BLOCKBUSTER!SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG

Role: Imperator Ix from Sonic Chronicles

Here we have Shadow the Hedgehog in my roleswap AU known as Blockbuster. We have two versions here, today, one with and without the mask.

Lore:

Shadow is the leader of a blood cult consisting of ancient hedgehogs from 4000 years ago called “The Brotherhood of Black Arms.” With their own blood, they use it to dye their quills with red stripes and use it to paint around their eyes.With their faith, they place it in a protector of the multiverse known as Devil Doom. I use Shadow 05’s big bad is cause I wanted Shadow and the Black Arms to still be related in my AU. They see this being as an amazing deity who they wish to share with the world. In order to do this, they develop technology that they had discovered from the Starfall Islands provided to them by the survivors of the Ancients (who are redesigned to look more ghost like.)

They develop at an exponential rate, building robotic servants, researching genetics with cloning and augmentation, and this all culminates with the invention of a super weapon harnessing the power of both the chaos emeralds **and** the master emerald. This gets the attention of Devil Doom, and it pulls the civilization into the Twilight Cage. But the entity didn’t grab the emeralds as the storage space for them to fuel the weapon broke off in the destructive process of bringing the brotherhood into the Twilight Cage.

From there, the brotherhood continue to develop their technology, stealing tech from other civilizations trapped in the Cage until the present where they make a machine that temporarily phases their civilization back into their world where they steal all 8 emeralds before phasing back into the Twilight Cage. Their plan is to repurpose the super weapon into a device harnessing the emeralds to **__merge__** the Twilight Cage with their world, forcing Devil Doom to reside with them where the brotherhood will share the “deity’s glory” with the world.

Design Notes:

Now with Shadow, I made his iconic symbol the symbol of the brotherhood like how Christianity uses the cross or the “Christian Fish.” I even made it the head of his staff referencing Imperator Ix’s staff with the partial gear head ||As you can see, the staff has a lot of dry blood stains.|| With the mask, I wanted to reference the Doom Eye with the forehead eye with the red stripes mimicking Shadow’s and the Doom Eye’s red markings.

So sorry this took so long, but without a further ado,

BLOCKBUSTER! TIKAL

Role: Amy Rose the Hedgehog

This version of Tikal is known for being a BIG fan of Knuckles and his heroics across South, Westside, and Angel Islands, but she isn’t obsessive about it like canon Amy was. So you might be thinking, “How does she end up on Little Planet?” Well…I haven’t figured that out yet. 😅

All that matters is that she’s there and gets kidnapped by Mecha Knuckles and brought back to Tails and Commander Noah. But instead of staying a captive like Amy was back in CD, she decides to snoop around to find her signature weapon, an oversized, futuristic kendama with a plasma ball as its kendama ball. With it, she destroys Noah’s operation from the inside while Knuckles destroys it from the outside, a sandwich maneuver. After the my CD adaptation, she would hit it off nicely with Knuckles and go get her weapon a new paint job, the one that you see now.

Now I feel it best we take a break from my roleswap AU, Blockbuster, and focus on a new AU that I made during the time between Blockbuster!Sage and Blockbuster!Tikal. You’ll see what I have in store tomorrow.

BLOCKBUSTER!TAILS

So, umm, really sorry for not getting to Tails yesterday. I was in a Discord call and lost my train of thought. 😅 Anyway, here we have Tails in Ray’s role…but Ray in canon didn’t have anything to do outside of SegaSonic, Knuckles Chaotix, and Mania in the games, so I had to get a little creative.

Also, if you’re wondering why he looks to have eyebags is because…

✨He’s a sleep deprived mess✨

After the events of my version of SegaSonic (the arcade game where Sonic escapes from Eggman with Mighty and Ray,) Tails sadly gets left behind because of the surroundings crumbling around him and got him stuck. In the aftermath, Commander Noah (Abraham Towers in the role of Eggman) takes him in and has his team brainwash him, making him think his friends abandoned him and the views of Noah are not only the correct worldview but the only worldview.

From this, he works day and night to make machines for Noah’s army akin to the movie badniks and researching into things that he can use to help out Noah’s cause such as the Phantom Ruby in my Forces Story and the Chao (I swapped Wisps and Chao) in my Sonic Colors Story.

As for design, I finally started to add gradients to my eyes to make them more realistic and dynamic. If you payed attention to Blockbuster!Shade’s design, I actually started those eye gradients with her.

Anyway, again, I do apologize for not keeping up my promise to yall, and I promise to post the final design I have so far during my lunch break at work, Blockbuster!Rouge the Bat

Hmm…I guess with myself talking about Sonic from my Fursona. I think I should let you all know about an AU I made for it while I was gone.

The AU is called “Blockbuster,” and no, it has nothing to deal with the Sonic movie, given that term is normally used for such things. No, Blockbuster is a roleswap AU. I’ll write down the premise of it in a new paragraph.

Blockbuster is a roleswap for all the Echidnas being swapped with the Hedgehogs (Sonic and Knuckles, Amy and Tikal, Silver with Shade, and Shadow with Imperator Ix) along with other swaps and some symbolism and inspiration over cults, religions, and mythologies

If you wish to know what I swapped with what. I shall post them under the cut.

Sonic 🔁 Knuckles

Everything’s the same for Knuckles, but he doesn’t have the aspects of his personality that were due to being reclusive all his life, that being a bit shy and socially awkward…at least I think that’s something that would be caused by being a recluse.

Sonic is the same, but due to being the ME Guardian, he can’t leave the island for adventure. So he explores every nook and cranny on Angel island until Towers arrives, meaning anything from the future games such as the Ancients with their cyberspace portals, he has knowledge of that from the get-go.

Eggman role = G.U.N. Commander Towers

G.U.N. Commander Towers Role = Maria Robotnik

Maria Robotnik Role: Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik

Commsnder Abraham Towers goes by Commander Noah and wants to be dictator of the world as he sees it as too corrupt and sinful.

Maria in this AU no longer has NIDS and is able to live to the age of 62 (yes, going by Sonic X ages, sue me). Maria is very caring for her troops, even with a militaristic discipline, and she would be smart enough not to blame Knuckles in the events of my SA2 adaption.

You see that correctly. Eggman is now the one with NIDS and is the one to hang aboard the ARK with his grandfather to find a cure through “The Chaos Cure Project” (I would acronym this, but I don’t think that would be wise as it could get confused with a…party of sorts.) He would also meet the same fate as Maria in canon, that being shot down by G.U.N. Agents while saving Ix, all at the age of 9 years old.

Tails 🔁 Ray

Ray: Ray is the sidekick to Knuckles, but he’s not a mechanic, so the two would meet by Ray finding Knuckles gliding across West-side Island and admiring his gliding skills.

Tails: Due to Ray going silent after SegaSonic and Knuckles Chaotix, I had to improvise with Tails, so I decided on him being a nurtured and/or brainwashed personal scientist and researcher for Commander Noah, giving him all his mechs, robots, and studies into ancient history.

Vector 🔁 Vanilla

I only swapped the two to have Vanilla simp for Vector like how the latter does to the former in Sonic X lol

Vanilla is a member of the “Chaotix Adventure Group” (the CAG for short) along with her daughter, Cream, and their leader, Mighty.

Vector is just a calm, cottagecore man living out in the wilderness with his found family younger daughter, Marine the Raccoon.

Espio 🔁 Mighty

Mighty: Due to not being trained in stealth like Espio, The Chaotix would now be the an exploration group instead of a detective agency. He would behave like normal as he adopts Knuckles’s hat from the OVA and uses a reusable warp ring that can duplicate itself for great blitzing in his ball form.

Espio: He will just be a normal dude on the sidelines until the events of Heroes where he gets killed by Neo Mecha Knuckles for his camouflage bio-data.

Amy Rose 🔁 Tikal

Tikal: A more mellow fan of Knuckles and his accomplishments as a hero, but still finds her way to Little Planet to be kidnapped by Mecha Knuckles. She has a crush on him as well but is a bit more mellow about it. She also wields a giant Kendama instead of Amy’s Piko-Piko Hammer

Amy: She is now the daughter of Pachacamac (yes he still exists. I just changed him from an echidna to a hedgehog) and is the one who guides Knuckles and friends through the events of my SA1 adaptation. She still keeps her personality, so things might get a bit hectic between her and her father, probably a fight, even.

Metal Sonic 🔁 Mecha Knuckles

I don’t think I need to explain this 😅

I’m not sure if I want to put ALLL of my swaps into one post, so I’ll split it into parts to make it more…digestible, I guess. So I’ll be back in a bit with a few more. I won’t say that it’ll be the rest of them, but it will be a significant portion.

Blockbuster!Sage

With Sage, she was known before the phantom ruby experiments as Letha (meaning forgetfulness, to reference the similar name change Infinite went through). She started out as an adopted daughter to a family of quokka Mobians but soon was abducted by Tails at some point (how is still up to interpretation). With this, Tails goes through with the experiments on the young girl, turning her into what you see now.

Design wise, I’m really happy with how this turned out, especially that pink and purple highlight where glitched cyber energy would be in canon is replaced with the abundant power of this reality-warping gemstone.

Blockbuster!Espio the Chameleon

And here we have the third of Blockbuster AU my designs (we’re skipping the second one as it’s not canon to the AU), Espio the Chameleon, who fills the role of Mighty the Armadillo!

Now in terms of story, SEGA basically sidelined our lovable armadillo for basically no reason, only coming back in stuff like the Archie comics and Mania after Knuckles Chaotix and the SegaSonic arcade game. I obviously didn’t want to do that with Espio, but I had no idea to do with him. That was until I remembered Neo Mecha Knuckles and my adaptation of Sonic Heroes.

Like I mentioned earlier in my post about Neo Mecha Knuckles, Chaos isn’t based on water, so NMK (Calling him that for now on) can’t turn into metal go, terminator style. So, to fix his stealth issue, NMK goes after Espio, and scans his bio-data. Surprisingly to the bot, he gets spotted due to Espio’s keen eye. Due to this, NMK has to kill him to not have his presence known to the “Knuckles cast.”

Yup, I kill Espio in the events of my Sonic Heroes adaptation. You would think of this as sidelining a good if not a great character, but you tell me how I can use him better. I’ll wait. I have no other idea outside of this.

Anyway, sry for the mini rant. Now that we have those two done. Up next we have Ix and Shade the Echidna, the Ultimate Lifeform and warrior from the future of Blockbuster. Stay tuned!

BLOCKBUSTER!SHADE

With Shade, she takes the role of our lovable future boy as her would has been plunged into death, despair, and darkness by Dark Gaia only able to survive by sneaking around and getting bailed out by Rouge the Bat. Cue Light Gaia (in terms of story, will not be called Chip) who transports the two to a safe place where he can discuss his plans to help fix Shade’s time. Without hesitation or hearing him out, Shade accepts, no questions asked.

Cue Sonic 06 adaptation shenanigans where I try to make the story better than the original. With that Shade steals a pair of hard-light-emitting gloves to make whips out of to grapple people. She also finds out she’s in the wrong and switches sides immediately to fight Light Gaia who wanted to merge with Dark Gaia due to an experiment gone wrong ten years ago. And yadda yadda yadda Shade goes Super with Knuckles and Ix and defeats **Gaia**, and the world is saved. Lol

As for design, This is the debut of my current way of making my linework, the free-hand selection and fill tools. Yes, it’s as tedious as it sounds. At least the points on said linework look so crisp. Anyway, I can’t thank enough the help from @banobobot here on Tumblr for the help in designing the hard light gauntlets for me and my version of Shade.
