Bear Day

Here is a picture of my partner and me at Bear Day. This was taken at our poster presentation for our senior design project: Autonomous Drone Delivery. The event was held for all senior engineering students. The students stood by their posters and invited any people who were curious about a particular project and were there to answer any questions.

roger works because believe it or not (but please believe it) i made it into the aRCADIA WORLD GUARD!!! its still so surreal to me that im going to be standing in an arena full of thousands of people in Dayton, Ohio in only a couple months! woah. today was a pretty average school day with “holy crap what am i going to get placed into” throughout the whole day… congrats to everyone that got into A or World guard and may you all have great shows and reps! gotta love roger

The Dangerous Fantasy of Mass Engagement

The proposed metrics include using internet keyword searches to monitor whether the world’s citizens (those online, anyway) are aware of sustainable lifestyles. This highlights the real problem with SDG number 12. It blurs the distinction between production and consumption. One involves companies taking action (regulated by governments). The other requires consumers to demand change. But we don’t have to wait for mass awareness to create a step change in sustainable production. Take the example of consumers buying Coca-Cola’s new PET plastic bottle. It is made entirely from plant materials. Buyers are consuming sustainably without even realizing it. We need enough people to be aware to make a change in the market.
