Of Fish, Flies, Dogs And Women
By: Timothy R. Montes
Of Fish, Flies, Dogs And Women was written by Timothy R. Montes, this story is catchy especially for the girls out there. It represents how brave and strong all women are. Fish, because Maria (main character) was selling a fish. She's married but her husband was alcoholic and worthless, aside from being alcoholic and worthless he also beating her up. Totally worthless right? Still, she stayed for her kids. Selling fish was the only way she knew to gain money. Flies, because she was curious why flies like fish? Or maybe it was equivalent of some gossip people from her town? No, all of people of her town was like a CCTV. Like flies, they like the smell of stink news that they will spread all over the town. It's like wildfires that spread and burn you alive. Dogs, when she passing by the house of a famous lawyer who has a 'disgrasyadang' daughter, she wants to sell her fish to the lawyer but unlucky because the dogs are awaits for her. But still, she walks straight and ignored those dogs even though they are ready to attack her soon. Lastly, women. She saw the daughter of the famous lawyer holding her infant while looking at her. Telling her that she's alone so no one will buy her fish. Maria noticed how beautiful the woman is (the disgrasyada). Fast forward, she asked the woman if she can see her baby, and the woman agreed. Placing her fish aside and walked towards where the woman standing. Looking at the baby, she thought of how the people in town talks about her. She gave her an encouraging words and she see some emotions to the woman eyes. Minutes later, she saw the dogs starting eating her fish so she ran and save her fish. She saved her fish but the dogs leave her some wounds. Imagine how strong are woman because of this story, that they can do all things for herself and for her kids. Having a child in a young age is not a sin. We don't have the right to judge them for what path they choose. Let's just feel them that they are not alone. There's nothing to shy for. What matters is that they have learned something and know how to stand on their own two feet.
