The Importance of Blogs to Increase Engagement
5 Advantages of Blogging for Marketing
No matter what type of small business you have, blog article writing is extremely important for a number of reasons. It is a key ingredient in your marketing strategy to increase brand awareness and drive traffic back to your website.
Today, there are a whopping 600+ million blogs out there, out of over 1.7 billion websites. This week, I’m going to share some of the advantages of blogging for marketing and the components of an effective blog post so you can join them!
So first, let’s explore 5 advantages of blogging for marketing:
1. Your blog drives traffic to your website.
Whether you use SEO to help people find your blog, promote it in paid ads or post it on social media, all roads lead back to your website. The more relevant and search-engine-optimized blogs you share with the world, the more traffic will come to you.
And once your data shows you what types of content are performing best, you can start to write multiple posts related to the most popular topics.
2. Blogging boosts your search engine rankings.
Search engines are always on the lookout for fresh and relevant content. By writing a blog, you’re inexpensively creating new content for the search engines to index.
You need to start by doing your research to find relevant high-volume, lower-competition keywords to include in your articles. But you don’t want to stuff your writing full of keywords to try and get the search engines attention—this will actually have the opposite effect.
A professional SEO company can help you create blogs with just the right amount of keywords. Also, read How to Get Higher Blog Post Rankings Using SEO Yoast.
3. Valuable content can increase sales
When you share content that adds value to your readers’ lives, they’re more likely to buy something from you. Rather than simply driving traffic from your paid ads or social media to a website full of links, you can direct people to blog posts that complement your product or service.
Well-written copy offers the perfect opportunity to educate and inspire people, who now better understand the value of what you’re offering.
Nutrition House Canada strikes a good balance of useful content and product links.
4. Blogs build trust among your target audience.
Blogging lets you connect with website visitors and customers in an authentic way. If you consistently provide high-quality content to your target audience, you’ll start to be seen as an authority in your industry.
Gaining people’s trust can’t be rushed, however. Don’t revert to pushy sales tactics or churn out a dozen articles in a few weeks expecting a huge increase in readership and sales. Be patient and genuine for the best results.
5. Your social media presence can benefit..
One of the main advantages of blogging for marketing is that it easily supports your social media efforts.
When you share on social media, people who see and like your content may be tempted to share it with their followers, which increases traffic to your website and awareness of your brand.
Secondly, you have the opportunity to interact with followers who comment on your posts, which helps build trust and brand loyalty.
Components of an Effective Blog Post
Now that we’ve established the importance of blogs to increase engagement, let’s look at the components of an effective blog post:
1. A compelling headline: Think of what you’d like to see if you were looking for a solution to your problem. For example, this article’s headline is “The Importance of Blogs to Increase Engagement.” Would you want to read it if it were “Why Writing a Blog is Important”? It’s less likely.
2. Directive subheads: This is especially useful for longer blogs. Subheads break up your content and guide your reader to the next step. For example, the section you’re reading now is “Components of an Effective Blog Post,” which tells you exactly what to expect.
3. Well-researched, value-adding content: The meat of your article is what people will pay the most attention to. Back up what you’re saying with stats or research from industry leaders to make it more credible.
Give your readers real-world examples of how your product or service will enhance their lives, not just a list of features.

Engagement-based email marketing relates to how your subscribers interact with your eNewsletter. Once they’ve opened it up, you still need to wow them with your content.
An article can be a great tool for engagement-based email marketing. You can either place the full article in the body of the newsletter or just have the first few paragraphs of the article in the newsletter, and then link back to your blog.

4. A strong call to action: Often referred to as a CTA, a call to action is a button, image, or text link that directs the user to the next step in their website experience. (In SEO terms, these steps make up the conversion funnel.)
Without a CTA, the user has no idea where to go next, and you risk losing them to another website/competitor. So what are you trying to get your potential customer to do? One of the main components of an effective blog post is letting people know whether to buy now, learn more, download an eBook, etc.
5. Visually appealing graphics: Using visuals that match your brand can be incredibly engaging. There are so many advantages to using imagery:
They help create an emotional connection with readers.
Many people are visual learners, so images help you tell your story in the most effective way.
Posts with relevant images perform better in search engines.
Blogs with images receive higher engagement than those without images. For example, Facebook posts with photos receive an average 37% increase in engagement.
6. Good meta description: Basically, meta descriptions provide a description of the content of your post within the search engine.
So as someone is deciding which search engine result to click on, which do you think they’ll pick? A creative, customized meta description that encourages them to learn more, or a generated, often irrelevant, meta description generated by the content platform (e.g. WordPress) that you use?
There are so many advantages of blogging for marketing. Never underestimate the importance of blogs to increase engagement.
If you take the time to understand your target audience, do your keyword and topic research, write engaging copy and promote it on social media, it will be worth it.
In fact, you might find that your blog is the most powerful marketing tool you have!

Two-faced
Tonight (August 11) during my #TashyraTalksTuesdays segment on ReachGospelRadio.com and the RGR App I talk about the inevitable debates that derives from conflicting opinions of “others”. Others. Those that cannnot and will not ever be completely satisfied. There is always an ‘other’...another other opinion, other perspective, other option, and other alternative. Ultimately, its your responsibility not to self-impose the expectations of ‘others’ and take them on as your responsibility.
This photo is metaphorically profound in that it could simply tell the difference in the woman’s mood from one day to the next - not wanting to wear make-up on a Monday, but wanting to on a Tuesday. However, the commentary that accompanies that photo speaks to a greater debate that can transform into an internal debacle if we allow people’s opinions to infiltrate our souls and decisions.
If you decide to flaunt your natural beauty, a clean face with your ‘I woke up like this attitude’, or if you decide to chuzz it up a bit, accent those eyes and lips cause you feeling yourself - its going to hit different people differently no matter which side of the face you decide to stand. So, here’s the deal...
No matter the responses, or the lack thereof, your decision to be still while in the valley of decision may seem like you’re not putting in any effort, and your moments of movement may seem like you’re ‘doing the most’. At the end of the day, it is crucial to know the moments and seasons of your life. To be still takes as much focus, energy and intent as it does to move in motion. Both are necessary, just as both of these faces are beautifully necessary for growth.
Let this photo represent time in time in that there is a time to move and a time to be still. There is a time to give, and a time to receive. There is a time to sow and a time to reap. There is a time to weep and a time to rejoice. In EVERY TIME or SEASON you find yourself, rejoice. Your beauty is a marvel to behold. Your BARE face and BEAT face are both wonders. Your stillness and your motion are both necessary. There is no either or, there is only both.
Ecclesiates 3
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
Seasons Change
Boy does time fly! We are already nearly midway through October, nearing the end of another week. The weather in the Northeastern part of the US has finally dropped to reflect the Fall season we're so accustomed to this time of year. The leaves are changing to their warm colors. No, this isn't a weather report just the evidence that a new season has come. Like the leaves changing, and the temperature dropping there are signs in our lives that foreshadow the changing of a season. Do not ignore the signs. Whether the signs are pointing at changes in family, friends, business, employment, a new scenery, or a new home be sure that you are tapped into your surroundings and can identify that which is shifting. Like the Fall jackets, the color change to our hair, the burgundy in the air, the sweater weather we've prepared - the evidence of change is here. We make changes to our appearance to fit the environment, we must be sure we have the proper "wardrobe" for our mind, body, and soul. Cloth yourself with information. Guard your heart with the truth of God. Consult with trustworthy people. Keep yourself warm with wisdom. As we look ahead to 2020, let's be clear that there are still two more natural seasons this year - Fall (currently), and Winter (beginning December 21). While it is certainly necessary to prepare for your new year, its also necessary to embrace the seasons and possibilities this year still holds. In less than 120 days, nature has obeyed time and transformed itself from Summer to Fall, and Fall to Winter. So, if the Earth still has time to continue its natural evolution of change, aligning itself with the seasons, why do we believe we have run out of time in 2019? While we do not want to be ill-prepared for 2020, we also do not want to miss what is left in 2019. Our days have been numbered in eternity; stop putting a deadline on what shall come to past in your life, and allow time to take its time. We will miss what's for us in these last few months of 2019 by looking past the beautiful colors, the cool Fall breeze and the brisk wintry weather that cleanses the depths of the Earth's soil with snow. So you see, for everything there is indeed a season. There are reasons and there are seasons, Allow yourself time to enjoy what is left of this shift. Inhale the beauty in the warm oranges, hues of purples, soft yellows, and deep browns that accent the atmosphere. Allow the winter snow to cleanse the soil that lies within your soul. Don't rush the process, but rather learn to understand seasons. When you understand seasons, you envy no one, and you rush nothing. Strategy: Rebuilding the Ruins
During the month of September, I have been talking about STRATEGY on the
"Tashyra Talks Tuesdays" women's empowerment segment Reach Gospel Radio. There are several biblical examples of how to be strategic in all that we do. God has left us with no shortage of instruction on living our lives according to His word and His principles.
I started off the month talking about two of my favorite biblical strategists, Nehemiah and Joseph. I close this month talking about Lydia and Priscilla (Acquila). Tune in tonight at 8:20pm and 10:20pm to catch this week's segment.
A few things Nehemiah and Joseph had in common:
They each had a passion or heart's desire for the rebuilding, safety or freedom of their people.
They had favor with the King.
They kept their ear to the mouth of God.
Let's look at these key points:
#1 - What's your passion turned purpose?
It is so important to know what moves us...what we are passionate about...what causes our heart to flutter, or nerve to cringe. So often, the answer to our question about what our calling is, lies within what is subconscious, yet obvious. We should begin to take note of what moves us. We should not ignore the "thing" that stands out to us on a regular basis. This "thing" may not be popular, or what some would call in demand, but it is the "thing" that you are passionate about...that your emotions are reveled about. So much so, that your mind begins to consider all the ways to make this "thing" better or more widespread.
That which triggers you, is what needs to be brought before the Lord with an earnest desire to understand your role and responsibility to it.
For Nehemiah, this "thing" was to rebuild the city wall of Jerusalem which had been destroyed during the seizing of Israel. Nehemiah, although young when the seize took place, had an earnest desire and a passion to rebuild the City when he heard of the distress of Judah.
#2 - Do you have favor with Kings, leaders?
In the 20th year of the reign of Artaxerxes, king of Persia, Nehemiah held the position of cup bearer. Knowing that a remnant of Jews in Judah were in distress, and the walls of Jerusalem needed to be rebuilt, Nehemiah asked the king for permission to return to the City to rebuild the wall. What triggered Nehemiah? I'm sure there were others that knew of the need and the distressing cry of Judah. But, what made Nehemiah the chosen vessel with a desire to rebuild? Where did the the fearlessness to ask the King for permission come from? Why did the King oblige?
Ask yourself these questions the next time a series of events transpire that are 'out of the norm' or left without an answer other than...God.
#3 - Are you listening to the voice of God?
With an earnest heart for his people, and favor with the King, Nehemiah put his ear to God's mouth and received specific instructions from eternity that transcended into time. Nehemiah's plan of action was challenged by neighboring Kings and leaders who did all they could to distract Nehemiah from his responsibility. But he stayed the course.
If you read Nehemiah, you will see just how strategic and methodical God's plan was, so much so, that a City that lay in ruins for
YEARS
, only took
52 DAYS
to rebuild its wall. Every tribe or family that participated in the rebuilding was gifted in a specific craft - from welders, to builders, to those who stood guard - each in their respective roles worked in unity.
During a point in the process, Nehemiah instructed the men to hold their weapons in one hand, and to continue building and stacking bricks with the other hand.
Simultaneously, they were ready for war while building their wall of protection.
There is SOOOO much to get from Nehemiah's experience, but I won't list them all here - I'm trying to shorten these weekly messages. :-) If you apply the three foundational points above to your life, you are on the road to rebuilding the ruins. Be encouraged:
Identify your passion - what rests and lays close to your heart. (Luke 2:19, 51)
Perfected strategy comes from above (Isaiah 58:11-12)
Silence the noise in your ears, and make room for the voice of God to be made clear. (Nehemiah 2)
Use what is around you to its fullest capacity. Maximize your product potential. Tap into your surroundings, and build. (Nehemiah)
YOUR RESTORATION IS IN THE RUINS (Nehemiah 2)
Tonight, I'm teaching others how to tap into their potential through an instrument that we use most often...our VOICE. I am showing how to take what's already around us, and within us to use it for us. Join me and others who are taking the first step to make money using their VOICE. Like Nehemiah's builders who multi-tasked using their arms and hands, there is a need to use your voice to both celebrate that which is right, and at other times to condemn that which is wrong. Use your voice to do both, and make money in doing so.

Testimony Tuesday: Does your life match your words?
Last week I mentioned that my creative juices tend to flow more freely and aggressively the closer I get to a deadline. I also mentioned that most times I am preparing my Tuesday email in advance, in an effort to be more efficient. But God's plan superseded my plan, even in this. My original email was already scheduled to be sent at 8am. However in my quiet time this morning, somewhere around 5:30am, the message changed; and today, I earmark as 'Testimony Tuesday'. So with that said, I ask you this question:
"Our lives are our testimony. Are you allowing your life to speak?" - Tashyra
Share with me what God has done for you. Share your TESTIMONY:
b) the evidence or proof provided by the existence or appearance of something
c) a public recounting of a spiritual conversion or experience
In scripture, Testimony is used:
To convict (Deuteronomy 17:6, 19:5; Exodus 23:3; Numbers 35:30)
To defeat (Revelations 12:11)
To announce or bare witness (Matthew 8:4)
When we think of a 'testimony' we may first go to an audible expression. However, we see in Matthew that Jesus gives specific instructions to the man healed of leprosy, not to tell of his healing, but to be examined by the king, and to take an offering required by law. Not only is He saying that another needs to bare witness to the healing, but the man's actions of giving an offering would also tell of the miracle that took place.
Repeatedly in scripture from the OT to the NT, from Prophets to Apostles we see the instruction to ensure there is someone else also baring witness to our words, and that our actions support that which is being said.
Why is that so important?
Why is it imperative that someone else vouch for what we know/say...?
What we know is healing...?
What we know is a breakthrough?
Because our lives is our evidence.
How else will others know of the Healer?
How else will others know of the Deliverer?
How else will others know of the All Sufficient One?
How else will others know of the Way-maker, Miracle-worker, Promise-keeper?
How else will they know that God sent you to your respective areas of ministry and expertise.....unless they see...?
You see, its easier to say a thing...
Its easy to say we're loosing weight, but what do our clothes say? What does that scale say?
Its easy to say we have faith and believe in God, but what do our worried minds say?
Its easy to say we're not going back to that old relationship, but what did that late night text say?
Is our physical testimony matching our verbal testimony?
We are ocular beings. I know at times people refer to the outer appearance as superficial and unauthentic, but I dare to say that is only as true as the amount of effort and validity that you give it. We are living testimonies of Christ. It is important to know that. It is true; we are some people's first impression of God. So ask yourself, what impression are people getting from you? You see, they too, will then bare witness and tell another about the God that you serve because of the that life you live. Baring witness, and having someone advocate for our testimony is not a foreign concept. We see it as a vital part of the legal system, and in courtrooms. Even in scripture (refer to the above), it is instructed not to convict another based off just one testimony, but needing to have witnesses instead. (That's right...yet again we see how Bible in part of our modern day systems, although many would deny it.)
As I continue in my 'YES' journey in God, I am becoming more and more clear why it is so vital to be open and share. This, coming from a very private person who has the capacity to be personable, without being personal. Yup...that's me. I've mastered it. Its contrary to the line of work I am in - communications, marketing, Public Relations. But, there is an old adage that says, "Communications professionals do not know how to communicate." Such is the case when attempting to get some of these professionals to communicate their personal lives. See, its easy to tell another person's story in the media, but was I willing to tell my own?
The more I share, the more I hear and see others being blessed.
The more I share, the more I am emptied out of old experiences, information, and knowledge, and preparing the way for new revelation God so eagerly desires to download into me.
The more I share, the more understanding I have of God's perfected Will of my life; the more witness I have to my story.
The more I share, the more my LIFE becomes my VOICE.
I want to hear from you. Beyond "Tashyra Talks Tuesdays", (leave a comment here >>> 'Testimony Tuesday' Tell someone about the goodness of the Lord, and then live a life that will bare witness to His grace.
A life that says God is a god who cannot lie, neither is He the Son of Man who can repent.
