one thing I find awesome is that even though Chuck's car is, originally, called Blond Thunder, everyone chooses to spell it as BlondE Thunder, implying that Thunder is perceived as female by the fandom at large
...which means that transfem Blonde Thunder is the most popular Motorcity trans headcanon which is just..... beautiful. Hell yeah, that car is totally taking estrogen. More cars should be transgender actually
In a very sexy move, scientists have named new species of insects after Thor and Loki
Say hello to Blond Thunder and Elegant Deception
Australia’s national science agency, Csiro, says that 164 new species of insects and plants have been named in the past year, some of which resemble a number of comic characters, including Thor, Loki and Black Widow.
The Thor fly, Daptolestes bronteflavus, meaning “blond thunder”
The Loki fly, Daptolestes illusiolautus, meaning “elegant deception”
Blond Thunder is my favourite episode from Motorcity.
It's that one episode that I watch over and over again and never get bored (or tired, for that matter).
It's brilliantly written, the humor is top-notch, Chuck's car is absolutely gorgeous, I'm not sure who the script writer for this episode is but everything just flows so smoothly and the scenes connect so well, also wow, do they add fuel to the ship fire.
Anyway, even though I love all of those things, I gotta say that what I really love the most are the small details (like some of the characters' mannerisms), allow me to exemplify:
The way Duke just tumbles away after he says "I am nothing if I'm not thorough" (gets me everytime, btw) and his million other eccentric mannerisms, also, the fact that Texas enjoys Jacob's food and gets a smile on his face everytime something related to it is mentioned/ has to be done, but never once says it (while everyone else is complaining). How Chuck accidentally manages to pull of the sidewinder, twice, during the race. Oh! And how everyone's cars have distinct sounds (related to their symbols, ex: Mike's car sounds like a dog's snarl/growl) and Chuck's ride obviously sounds like a thunder and has little electric "sound effects" too.
I don't know man, I could go on and on about this.
I figured, I've watched this episode so many times during my lunch and dinner breaks that I thought I needed to write something. lol
Or you know, just ignore what I'm saying and carry on with your lives. :D
Now I don't know if you all noticed this earlier, but on Brandon Cuellar's (One of Motorcity's animators/designers/etc., I assume) blog, there are loads and loads of references for the car designs (interior and exterior obviously) of the burners and other characters. There's also references for many other things in Disney XD's Motorcity, here are some from his blog:
A Utiliton from "Ride of the Fantasy Vans"
The Dragon Mech Antodote Delivery System from "Going Dutch"
Blond Thunder/Chuck's car from "Blond Thunder"
He even has really great art other than Motorcity concept art, such as these:
So I would highly suggest checking out his blog if you love browsing gorgeous art, or simply need vivid Motorcity references!
All art provided in this post rightfully belongs to Brandon Cuellar, Motorcity belongs to Disney XD and those who run the show.
