These gorgeous sculpts take 'Blind Violence' very literally, with goring horns protruding from where the demons' eyes should be. They would make an excellent addition to a chaos daemon army.

Yet another “quick doodle” that ended up taking forever orz, but it’s all good!

Anyway, according to WH lore, Bloodletters are fragments of Khorne’s rage. That come from him, being splinters of his being personified. However, other lore says that Bloodletters rise up from the chaos warriors of the mortal world. Instead of calling this conflicting canon, I ran with the idea. Why not both? The differences between the two are largely cosmetic, with Khorne spawned Bloodletters having much more impressive horns and teeth as well as redder bodies and a greater penchant for outright violence. I imagine Mortal spawned Bloodletters retain vestiges of their humanity and these Bloodletters tend to have a cruelty-streak as well as a murderous one. They tend to have pale horns and almost all of them have a mane of fur on the back that reflects the texture of their hair when they were a living mortal, mostly in black or red colors. Blonde bloodletters exist, but they are incredibly rare and viewed with disfavor, as blond hair is a color associated with Slaanesh and his legions. Having a crown of six horns rather than four or eight is considered bad luck as well (and guess which odd-eyed Bloodthirster had six of them before getting yeeted?)

Anyway, we also have Furnace Daemons and Orchard-Daemons, mentioned in The Book of Blood/Warhammer 3 and Tome of Corruption respectively. I’ve touched on Furnace-Daemons a bid: They forge endless blades, shields, and armor to be used by Khorne’s legions. They’re also in charge of overseeing the wizards and sorcerers the Khornate daemons capture for the purpose of enchanting their craft. Along with their cropped horns, they also keep their manes short or completely absent. Orchard-Daemons are the fieldhands of Khorne and one of the rare non-combat roles in the Bloody Legions. They do still fight, as enemy wizards often try to steal their produce; ostensibly this is why they farm at all, to lure magic-users for capture. The fruit itself also induces rage when eaten or used in drinks. Khornate spirits prime one for murder.

Ostensibly, these daemons are Bloodletters, often from those of Mortal Stock. However, they are not truly considered such any longer and their primary horns are shorn down to reflect their new station. Some Bloodletters volunteer for this role out of necessity, others demoted here as punishment for failure. Yet all can rise back into the ranks of proper Bloodletter if they prove or redeem themselves. Alternatively, they can take the path of the exile; many of the Exiles of Khorne were these “failed-daemons” looking for an alternate path to glory.

Did these some time ago. My 10 Khorne Bloodletters that I decided to paint up purple and black because I can lol. It’s a different purple than the recent Khorne mini I did and sadly one I can no longer get.

Found two old metal bloodletters nib at a lgs for ten bucks. It was a lot of fun to open and paint a kit thats over 20 years old. I included a new plastic bloodletter for reference. They look soooo much better now
