Bloody Bones || Murphy x Bill

Bill nodded as she released his hand, pulling the glove back on. “All on my lonesome, ma’am. We wizards ain’t exactly the most social o’ people.” That and taking others through the Ways tended to be a bit more dangerous than going alone, especially with folks not quite powerful enough to be on the Council themselves.
The grin left his face a little more as he crossed his arms, the better to keep them from his obvious weapons, and casually glanced behind him. “Why, you think I brought some stray with me an’ I’ll ask you to keep ‘em? Last thing I want’s for somethin’ to get this meetin’ off on the wrong foot.” He jerked his head to the side towards the living room windows. “I’m gonna take a guess an’ say the reason for the windows an’ fresh paint’s why you’re a bit on edge? Whoever did that cleanup missed a hole’r two while he was pluggin’ ‘em. Paint din’ quite even out over ‘em.” He glanced over toward her once more, seeing if there was a reaction at his words. “Take it whoever it was hit your house with a bit more firepower’n that nine against your leg there.”

Murphy’s brow lifted at his question about strays. If he only frickin’ knew. Seemed like somehow she’d gone from ‘that idiot who follows Dresden around’ to ‘that idiot who can be suckered into helping every limping halfcocked hero in the city.’
At least he was alone. Or, said he was. So far he hadn’t given her a reason to distrust him -- but frankly, nowadays, she wasn’t so sure she should be relying on that. Evil wore a friendly face. Her nightmares reminded her of that often.
Following his gaze for a moment before snapping it back to him she nodded along to his assessment. “Yeah.” Well, sure, one of about ninety things that had her on edge. She was still pretty pissed about her house. Her grandmother would have had a conniption. “I was in a hurry.” She refused to admit she hadn’t actually spackled before and was just too damn lazy about it to try to do more than slap some paint on. Glancing again through his eyes she cringed at her own workmanship. Ugh. Better to do it right, Karrin...
Her fingers reflexively tightened on the Sig at her side and she clenched her jaw for a moment before relaxing her grip. He was right. Sure, she’d freaked out a Gruff with this very gun, taken out a Winter Lady... but come right down to it -- Harry’s firepower had been a lot more than hers.
“Yeah.” Stepping back she jerked her head, “Come in outta the cold.”
