The Hierophant & FE3H

The Hierophant is meant to be a messenger from heaven. He is a spiritual leader, wearing all the garbs typical of a pope or other religious leader. He is different from The High Priestess in that he seems to have domination over the physical world, and not only the subconscious. He, too, holds the answers to things as shown by the two keys beneath his feet. But this can serve a concrete purpose as opposed to being pure knowledge. 

The crest name associated with this archetype is the Crest of Noa. In terms of etymology, Noa could be referring to Noah’s Ark. Noah was the last of the Abrahamic patriarchs, and was a spiritual leader to his family in a tumultuous time. 

The dragon associated with this crest is the Bloom Dragon. Bloom and blossoms symbolise renewal and the fleeting nature of life. It can also represent strongly contradicting ideas such as birth and death, or beauty and violence. 

In my mind, I see the Bloom Dragon as a beautiful dragon whose skin resembles old gnarled wood. But at night, it blooms pink flowers all along its body, and you no longer see the hideous skin beneath, only the flowers. 

I have to be honest, I don’t see any of the FE3H characters corresponding to all these things. Rhea is not a great spiritual leader when it comes to dealing with the public. Sure, there are people who are devout to her, but the over-grandiosity is not at all her style. 

Short of anyone else who bears the crest of Noa, I’ll have to see how Constance von Nuvelle lines up with the archetype and the names. While she is not at all spiritual, her ancestor, Noa herself, likely was. Constance does have some resonance with Noah in that she is the last of her family tree after a disaster and she alone must come to terms with how she’ll carry on. 

The only thing that does fit well for Constance is the duality of blooms or blossoms. She has two personalities rooted from her trauma, allowing her to be both prideful and rambunctious as well as meek and fearful.

I wanted to draw today’s last 2 dragons a lot earlier, but here’s this little flower.

Potential offspring of Bloom and Blight, my dilute sentinel morph pair of Lycaon dragons. They will all be swirl-marbled, with a mix of veined and smirch for tertiary, in a very limited range of near-white colours.
