I’ve been meaning to get to @sevenoakslavenderfarm all season, but...well you know. But all of a sudden the last day of their season was upon us so I stopped by on my way to work. It was hotter than hell, but it was beautiful there and I got some lavender and some herbs. Obviously these purchases are for cocktails!!! This is The Lavender Bee’s Knees. It’s incredible! Back In #January my #grandmother passed away. She was 100. She left me these glasses because I loved them as a kid. The last drink I had out of one of them was a ginger ale. I decided to christen them as an adult in honor of her and to #celebrate early #spring. Its Pink Booze Sunday, already! I have survived the kids party and am safely home. The children are full of cake, chocolate and jelly and its too wet to chuck them in the garden to burn it off. So i reward myself with what is rapidly becoming a fav go to gin, especially on a grey sunday afternoon. @bloomgin with its delicate floral and sweet citrus notes was paired with @fentimansltd rose lemonade and a few frozen raspberries. Rose is not normally a flavour i would go for but in the spirit of adventure i thought 'why not?'. The floral notes are lifted by the fragrant rose and off set with the sharp raspberries, a winner with rose. So pink booze in hand i settle down with the girls to watch some Disney. I know they are not in season yet but i couldn't resist these strawberries. I have been dying to try @bloomgin with strawberries another winning fruit in my book. Despite the freezing temps outside and a raging fire in the grate, this drink landed me right in the middle of may when the first of the season local strawbs are in and the evenings are lengthening and my thoughts turn to camping. Cheddar is just up the road and its not just famous for cheese, strawberries from Cheddar are the best. Bloom gin is so light and delicate that it pairs perfectly with strawberries and a sprig of mint. So it turns out that I have run out of milk and the weather is doing its best impression of a salt shaker, sprinkling freezing crystals from the sky! So my dilemma while attempting to make tea was do i brave the freezing weather or do i plump for black tea? Then i remembered black tea is the work of the devil and I have a small gin collection. I am sure it is written somewhere, like the magna carter, that when the english run out of tea they must be provided with gin. So today i selected @bloomgin and was in the mood for something fragrant so paired it with some Persian Rose buds from my botanicals box. I am not sure if its bad form not to add a citrus element but i just wanted to experience the gin and the fragrance as they were. The taste was so delicate, floral and sweet but with out being overly so. As i was making a curry while supping this i eventually added a tiny zest of lime, while tasty i would go back to just the roses or maybe try a sprinkle of lemon zest.
