tadc's blue daisies and how they are a symbol for jax and pomni
Hmm..I wonder where goose got the idea for the blue daisy,,..
anyways raggedy Ann reference aside ive always thought the blue daisy went deeper than that and was symbolic in some way, especially with how it seems to keep popping up.
According to bloom&wild blue daisies represent loyalty and trust
and i've always interpreted it to be specifically representing the bond of loyalty and trust between Jax and Pomni. But why, you ask? heh.,, well let me tell you !
Daisies seem to be something that pops up a lot when Jax and Pomni are around, which can be seen as early as the pilot.
Ever since the early days of TADC, I thought that there was some significance to the items floating around in the pilot--but the blue daisy stood out to me specifically. My first thought was that it represented Pomni since it fell near her, which I still partly believe, but I think there's more to it than that.
In this scene above, the blue daisy is what causes Pomni to bump into Jax. Literally go back to the pilot and you'll see how the daisy is the last object Pomni encounters before Jax not only appears on screen but makes PHYSICAL contact with her
This is the first time daisies are associated with them, but is definitely not the last.
The most notable is, of course, when they sing Daisy Bell together in episode 6.
It is definitely a very cute scene with obvious references to computer science as being the first song a computer ever sang + to 2001 a space odyssey but it ALSO strengthens the connection between Jax and Pomni to daisies. I mean the whole song is singing about this girl named daisy TOGETHER.
Despite the daisy in the song not being specifically described as blue, I think it still works bc of the general daisy mention and because all the daisies we've seen in the circus are (correct me if I'm wrong) always blue.
Ok I think this is my strongest piece of evidence. During Jax and pomni's fight in episode 6, Pomni throws a blue daisy in a flower pot at him. Now you may be thinking: "but jaxfunnybunnylover77777777! that could just be a random item!" but that is not the case..
Lets think for a second. It could've been ANYTHING else she threw at him. It was intentional to choose a daisy (and especially a BLUE one) instead of something that was not directly associated with Jax and Pomni earlier in the same exact episode.
Animation takes a lot of time. Why would they waste it with Pomni hitting Jax in the face with some random object that doesn't represent anything rather than using it as an opportunity to enrich the scene's meaning? I think it would be doing a huge disservice to Goose to assume that this choice was completely random. She thinks about this sort of stuff !
this works super well as symbolism here for their bond because think about what's going on in this scene. Pomni is puzzled by jax's attempts to push her away and undermine her friendship, and this scene comes soon after he tells her he would not care if she abstracted.
(sees her lift the gun, thinks for a second, then immediately softens the blow by going "lolol lmao xd XD it was a joke !!")
Instead of giving in and shooting herself (WHICH JAX NOTICED HER CONSIDER, BY THE WAY), she instead confronts him and stops him from running away. She throws the representation of their bond at his face to keep him from abandoning it. How much more explicit can you get?!??! Idk I think thats the nail in the coffin honestly
I think this still kind of ties in to the red blue theory since if blue represents humanity/reality, which Pomni is often associated with, it makes sense if a human bond is represented with a shade of blue
This also still works with the context of it being possibly a reference to raggedy Ann and andy.
In the movie, the blue daisy is something Annie gives her brother Andy as a way to cheer him up and is symbolic of their bond as siblings. Obviously, its a bit different with Jax and Pomni, but I think it basically represents the same thing.
I'm really curious to see how/if the blue daisy will show up again in the next two episodes. I could definitely see it showing up in the background or something in an important moment between Jax and Pomni.
I personally haven't noticed the daisy in any scenes other than the ones I mentioned, but please let me know if I missed any !!! I'd love to see if my interpretation holds up
ty for reading I hope you consider this interpretation <3
