They often look like Touhou characters, but their personalities are often based on the people who voiced them and those people are kind of stalked(?) after involving themselves with whatever voice drama (assuming it ever gets off the ground) due to the nature of the Japanese fanbase.

The fact that they are then treated as a fictional character from an anime or manga then used in fan art and funny videos are merely a front to lure unsuspecting people (and attention seekers) into these roles to keep the subculture alive, sort of like a sacrifice.
