Some details of my whimsical mushroom sculpture so far! Not sure what the finished product will look like but I’m having so much fun working with beads and silk.
I made these beaded mushrooms for fun (mostly to play with the beautiful new beads I had gotten!) but now I’m working on incorporating them into a whimsical moss & fungi piece. Kind of like a crochet bonsai I guess, but with big blue mushrooms instead of a tree :)
Entoloma hochstetteri by Bernard Spragg. NZ Via Flickr: This Sky Blue mushroom (Entoloma hochstetteri) is a woodland-dwelling fungus found in western parts of New Zealand’s North and South Islands as well as occasionally in India. It is found in New Zealand and India. Though possibly poisonous, its beauty has been recognized by it being part of a set of fungal stamps issued in New Zealand in 2002 as well as put on the back of a $50 bank note in New Zealand in 1990.
