Until one Mickey Milkovich is assigned to him and he has to try to find a way to help an inmate who may be more than just the Southside thug he first appears to be and who may be the person to throw his steady life into glorious chaos.

Not only does this author capture the emotions and mood perfectly between Ian and Mickey, they just are great at setting the tone in the story in general. I really have felt for the characters and been drawn in. Mickey’s life is as rough as if normally is but it is exploring the issues that this would cause him in more detail than the show has so far. Despite being in completely different roles in a prison, Mickey and Ian still manage to have such a sweet and shy (currently) friendship and budding relationship. Also, as far as I can tell this is blue_newman’s first fic and going into that without knowing that I would have thought they were a veteran.
