i've been confused about something lately, so i have nearly 1000 followers but even when i reblog one of those ask posts i almost never get any asks and maybe it sounds stupid but i just don't know what i'm doing wrong? am i not approachable? what does it take to make my followers interact with me a bit?
I honestly didn’t start getting asks until I started opening up more and asking my followers questions! I like to know about the people who enjoy my blog and so I started doing more interactive things like the whole “confess something and I’ll confess something too” or “what’s your favorite video game?” and stuff like that! People like to talk about themselves usually, so they’ll be more interested in what you have to say if they know you actually care about them!!
I know this might seem odd to just randomly ask you about this stuff but- -i ask if you could say something to encourage me or even someone else. to not give up and maybe go to class everyday...?
Absolutely!! I’m honored you’d ask. I wrote a LOT so I’m putting it under a read more. :3
Going to school is a great practice because it can be a really good platform to explore not only knowledge but who you are as a person as well!! for example, I learned I’m super lazy!!! hahaha. But for real, it’s not just a place to learn facts and memorize text if you don’t want it to be! there’s so much potential waiting for you at school. New people, new possible friends and connections you can make with peers and teachers, subjects that inspire you and things that make you think about you as a person and the world around you.
Grades aren’t everything. As long as you try your hardest it’s absolutely normal to fail as long as you don’t give up and make a habit of it! Use that disappointment as drive to do better next time, because I know you can do it and you know you can do it and you can’t win if you don’t try.
If you feel like you need a period of rest for a mental health day, it’s perfectly fine to do so in moderation but don’t let the temptation of slacking off trick you into not going to school. Depression can be a tricky bugger if you suffer from it like I do and it can be reeeeeally hard to get the motivation to get out of bed. Sometimes it helps to think about the reasons you LIKE school and convince yourself to go, or that you might feel better up and about or you might have missed something funny that happened if you had stayed in bed. Here’s a tip: Just swing your feet over the side of the bed. stand up. take a step. take a breath.
Do things at your own pace one step at a time and eventually you’ll get there. (although try not to be late!) This applies to projects and essays and big tasks too! Just take things one step at a time. The first sentence. The first paragraph. The second paragraph. Take breaks when writing! work for 10 minutes and then take a break for 5.
If you need help, don’t be afraid to ask for it. If you have problems speaking up in class, go before or after class to talk to your teacher 1-on-1 or talk to a classmate about it. Either the classmate with know what they’re talking about and help you, or be just as clueless as you are and make you feel better about not knowing it, hahaha. If you need to tell the teacher something, then do it. “I have anxiety issues so please don’t pick me.” or “I have another name and pronoun I go by, so please use those instead.” More often than not, teachers will be more than happy and understanding about it and you don’t have to be afraid to talk to them about things. Teachers are there (usually. some are just assholes) because they enjoy interacting with their students and want to make learning the subject they teach fun. Maybe you can suggest a new project that is more suited to your learning style! Teachers are always looking to find things that work best for the class and switching up their style definitely helps.
This has gotten pretty long and I could just keep talking about advice for waaaaay too long so I’ll end with this: School’s not for everyone. I’m not a school person myself, I can’t remember anything for shit. That’s okay! It’s not right brain VS left brain as much as they’d have you believe. There are SO many different ways of learning and so many ways to find and have fun with knowledge of many different types. Talk to people. Make friends. Find a reason you WANT to go to school every day. Make it fun for you. It really doesn’t HAVE to feel like prison and it won’t if you’re determined and you don’t take everything so SERIOUSLY. School is so serious sometimes, I never understood why. In university, you can wear slippers & PJs to school and chances are 1/3 of everyone else is too. Loosen up and do your best, try not to stress out about grades or being popular and have FUN there. You spend more time at school than you do at home so make it yours. Make it feel like a second home.
I hope this helps!!! I know it can be really hard if you’re depressed or introverted or have a stress disorder but there are different things you can do to still make it as comfortable as possible, even just small little things. Some things (like stress) you can’t control when it comes to grades but you can still make the learning fun? Use acronyms or sing songs or explain what you’ve learned to a stuffed animal at home. Just…little tiny smol things that will help your anxiety!
Is dating a friend weird? (Love your blog btw such a genius name)
Thank you! And no, dating a friend is not weird! TBH the best relationships are where you’re dating your best friend in the whole world. I personally am. If you’ve had a previous friendship with the person then they pretty much know what you’re like and what they’re getting into and still love you for who you are. There’s a lot more trust and familiarity and safety already established, so if you date someone that’s your friend it’s like you’ve skipped step A already and can truly get into the relationship part instead of the getting to know you part!
Hey!! Do you by chance speak german too since your grandparents were german immigrants? I'm german myself so idk I just get happy when I find out ppl are from here?? If that makes sense lmao // and 🌟 for the question thingie! Have a good day friend
My dad and Oma were SUPPOSED to teach me German but never did. I know some phrases and I’ve been learning it a bit myself using Duolingo, but I still don’t know very much. :< I still have a strange “accent” because I grew up in a German household though?? My english is slightly different sometimes.
Q: A Wish you’ll wish for?
I’d like to find a job really soon!! I really REALLY need the money and I’d like to get out of the house when it’s not so fricken cold out!! It’s really really hard finding a job that will suit me though since I have so many limitations.
HEY SO I found a text post earlier that described a thing called queerplatonic and I am ABSOLUTELY that. I spoil my friends so fucking hard and I think about them all the time like a dumb weirdo to the point that it seems like romance but I’m not actually IN love with them, my love is just too fucking strong for people I have an emotional bond with that it just seems that way.
Yo, thanks for that hard days post... had about a month of had days and counting and I think I needed that.
Having a consecutive period of time where you have bad days is just really, really awful. I’m going through a lot of those myself. Just...keep your head up, okay? Bad times are just times that are bad. Times don’t last forever and eventually you’ll move past them. Right now shit might suck the big one, even for a whole month, a whole year....several years but it won’t be forever. (That’s what I keep telling myself. It’s been a bad couple of years for the majority of them for me but I know one year I’ll have one of the best years of my life and these shitty ones will just be a couple bad ones in a life full of good ones, yeah?)
hey,,, i saw that one post you made with those nice words, and i wanted to say thank you because idk i really needed that today ...
So did I friend, so did I. I hope things get better for you too. Life’s rough but it’s not all bad. Take solace in the small victories. Maybe you didn’t burn your toast, or your bus came on time today, or you were just in time for class and didn’t miss it. The small things can definitely be what keeps you going and they’re not any less important than the big things.
there will be days where you feel like you have to give up. There will be hard times ahead of you. But fret not, my friend. For there are good times as well. Do not apolgize for something you cannot control. You will be okay. I believe in you.
Aahhh thank you ;u; It’s nice to have people here for me. Life sucks real hard, but it hurts less when you have people there to support you. <3
