Daryl bumps into Carol as she's getting out of the bathroom at Alexandria after she's cut her hair again. He notices it, of course. Take it from there😉.

He’s making his way down the hall to check on Lydia when Carol comes out of the bathroom wrapped in a threadbare towel. She’s holding a plastic bag and a pair of scissors. He thinks its impolite to stare, especially given this odd holding pattern they’ve found themselves in since she moved in with him and Lydia a few months back, so it takes him a second to put two and two together.

“You cut it,” he says, dumbly, once he finally lets his eyes rest on her face. She’s beautiful - she always has been - but he can see her so clearly now. There’s no curtain for her to hide behind. 

“Yeah,” she says, holding up the bag with the clippings. “Thought I’d see what we could use this for. Dolls for the kids, maybe?” 

“It looks real good.” The compliment comes so easily, even if it’s not exactly what he means to say. Then the thought flicks through his head that she might take it the wrong way so he hastens to clarify. “Looked good before too. Always looks good.”

Carol smiles. The curl in her hair is back. “It was nice to be Rapunzel for awhile.”

He hums an acknowledgement, not sure what else to say without stepping into that seldom addressed distance of space and years he’d rather forget. 

“Think you could help me with the back?” she asks. “I think I missed a few spots.”

He huffs out a breath, “You trust me?”

“Of course.”
