Aidan had been on the road for days, but it was about to be over soon. Just this night and he would be back home in Danruba by the next nightfall. The gash on his shoulder still hurt, but it was nothing he couldn’t handle, and it was starting to heal. He was enjoying a meal and some nice music in the local tavern when he noticed a few men coming in, but he didn’t think much of it. Only when Aidan was done with his meal and the music abruptly stopped he looked up from his plate. The men, who had walked in a few moments ago, were starting a commotion with the bard in the middle of it. Those men looked like drunkards, barely standing, but despite of that they didn’t look friendly. Seeing one was about to throw a punch at the clearly scared bard, Aidan instantly jumped up from his seat and launched at him. “Hey!” the loud rumble of his deep voice filled the room as he grabbed the man, who had his fist in the air, and pulled him away from the bard. Aidan didn’t intend to fight, but the man was apparently so set on throwing fists around that he now changed his target and threw a punch at Aidan, that he barely dodged. Oh, so they wanted to fight? Fine. Aidan had an advantage, since he was sober and they clearly weren’t. A few moments, thrown punches and a broken chair later all the drunkards were out cold and Aidan could feel the gash on his shoulder starting to bleed again. “Fucking shit,” he grunted with a deep sigh and pressed on his bandage a bit. Oh yes, the wound was open again. But nevertheless he turned around to face the bard. “You good?” he asked looking a bit worried. “If they were your friends, I’m sorry.”
