Steven’s hands shook as he stared at the ground, tears bubbling at the corners of his eyes, though to his credit not a single one of them was shed. The edge of the cliff stared back at him, a gaping chasm standing between him and where Pearl stood. A huge chasm that he was apparently expected to jump…Lost as he was in his anxiety, the sudden question caught him off guard, and he hesitated to answer. He could feel fear swirling in his chest, constricting his lungs like a snake and making his heart gallop far faster than it should. He knew that he wasn’t just afraid, he was downright terrified.And yet… He also knew what Pearl wanted him to say. After the incident with Sugilite some time ago he knew how badly she wished for him to trust her, to hold faith in her. Even now he could hear it in her tone, the worry that he didn’t have trust her enough.Now, he had never failed to believe in his adoptive mom, but she sometimes tended to forget how fragile a half human could be.For a moment he recalled chasing her across the floating islands as she fled him and Lion, and the lengthy fall he’d taken even then from a cliff too similar to this one, but he quickly pushed away the thought. This was different, it didn’t matter here.This was a training challenge, a smaller mission, just him and Pearl. What kind of Crystal Gem was he if he couldn’t do it? He’d disappoint everyone, he’d let them down…So he replied, steeling his nerves, swallowing hard, and calling back a slightly choked off “No, not at all! W-we’ve got this!”But that was a lie. Despite his best intentions, Steven was very very afraid. Pearl just didn’t have to know about it. @intherealway

She couldn't feel her fingers.She couldn't wiggle her toes.The sting of wires pulled at sore skin and raised bruises from touches too harsh for her young form.She only registered pain as her eyes opened to white slits.The world flooded with too much light, her head hammering behind her gem in the beginnings of a headache. Attempts to move away from the light proved futile, she only felt tugs against her arms and legs.She could still move her head, lolling it to the side and registering the mangled fusion of metal and skin as her arm. Colorful wires strung from the gray guard surrounding her skin below the elbow, a black strap looped around her upper arm.These guards are standard with the newer drone models. As a technician she was required to be able to communicate with technology with the utmost efficiency, her superiors had said. This was the ultimate result.She wondered with a twinge of anxiety if she would be able to feel anything with these clunky arms. Aside from pain, that is.

Millions of thoughts crossed her mind when she came upon the young gem-human hybrid spilling a dangerous amount of red fluid from his side. Where were the others? What had happened? But mostly she found herself wondering why she had been the one to find him. Why her and not the other gems who had been with him longer, why her and not someone who had cared for him even in his youth? The thoughts passed as quickly as they came, rushing to the boy’s side and coming to fully realize the size of the wound blooming red beneath his pink shirt.

“Press it as tight as you can against your side.” The green gem ordered as she further bunched up the child’s shirt. His gem was undamaged and the pink shirt was already soaked with his lifeforce, she was useless in this situation. She could fix warp pads and control systems not flesh and bone, and even with her limited knowledge she knew a fatal blow when she saw one, the cut would be more than enough to force a gem into regeneration but Steven was organic…

“Peri…” His voice was small, nothing like the usual bouncy and slightly obnoxious tone that always rang clear through the small house. “It’s okay, the rest of the gems will be here soon.” It wasn’t going to be okay and Peridot had no idea when the rest of the Crystal Gems would return, but she would not worry the boy and even let his ridiculous nickname slide as she cradled his small body closer. She took up holding his bundled shirt against the gash, doing not much more than prolonging the inevitable at this point but she had to do something. Steven had done everything for her, being kind despite her attempts to hurt and even kill him; she had to do something-!

“I’m tired Peri, can you sing me that song? The gems use to d-do it all the time so I wouldn’t have bad dreams…” His skin was growing cold and in her panic Peridot was shocked that she remembered the song he was talking about; it was the same song he insisted on singing to Amethyst’s gem when she had to regenerate, and one he had sung to Peridot during her regeneration as well. “Okay, okay, just try to stay awake if you can, for the others.” The boy gave a weak nod as Peridot sucked in a breath. Singing was not a thing to do on Homeworld, it hadn’t been for centuries, and the technician was sure she was no great singer but it hardly mattered here.

Hello, hello, and hello to all 300 of you out there! It's been exactly three months and one day since I began this blog and it has been a ride! I've made friends that I can no longer imagine not talking to on a daily basis and gained new writing idols to admire from afar. But before we get into who's who, I just want to thank all of you for following Garnet's antics and dealing with me on your dashes. :p Anyway, here we go~

God, how did we even meet? Oh! I think I was looking through the steven universe rp tag and I saw his promo for his Steven! And I liked it and looked at his ongoing threads and liked those too and then boom. Followed. And then we started writing together! And then he invited me to write with his Pearl and it went downhill from there~~.

No, but in all honesty, talking to Blue has become my favorite part of each day. We have 5 bajillion threads together and so, so many on the way. Follow this freaking loser.
