1- Lost could never be remade today and still have the same Aura (Walter Benjamin-ian definition) as the original did. The scope of modern tv writing is way too different and the fact that Lost was an original IP that so much money and time was allocated for- that is something that would literally never happen now. It would also suck to have the original actors roles overshadowed or painted over, especially as some of the characters were literally created For Them. Lost is a product of its time in both positive and negative ways, and its a disservice to the Aura and experience of the show to deny either. Without the success of Lost, a lot of Serialised Genre-Specific TV shows would never have been greenlit, so however you feel about the show itself you cannot deny its influence.
2- I really want a version of Lost where they're able to say fuck or be more explicit, or more gay or more gory etc etc and thats something that could never happen on network tv. Streaming would be the obvious option, but even then, the show would be formatted for Second Screen watching, something that is the bane of TV right now. imo it's absolutely tanking my enjoyment of most shows with a few glowing exceptions. Lost was so ahead of its time (format wise, not really Content wise), its so much easier to parse while binging (via DVDs or streaming) rather than watching it weekly as intended, but its also easier to see continuity errors or issues with character continuity this way.
3- I also wouldn't want this hypothetical remake to dumb down the characters. The main appeal of Lost to me is that nobody on that island is a good person completely, and I would not trust modern tv writers to pull that feat off. The "perfect" version of Lost that I'd want could literally never exist. Which sucks because so many of the characters that were written well from the get were done major disservices by the writers in later seasons.

i don't know if I'll ever be able to get into xiv rp. I want to and I've tried, but I just can't find anyone that cares about the lore in the same way that i do. and if they do they're not interested in rp.
That is one thing that I've had a lot of issues with is that people are so ready to throw out canon and the rules of the world to make their own. I get that it's fun for those people to do that but to rp? when my character is so grounded? its difficult. and when people have wildly different headcanons about things there ISN'T lore on?? how do you navigate that when its brought up.
I've tried to join venues but i just don't know where to start. 💀 I'll just stick to fic writing I guess.
art block's been hittin me like a truck. take this.
