Considering how the physical media is dying especially here in Finland, it's remarkable how many times I'm still rebuying films that I already own. Excalibur Media International has been releasing many titles which did not yet have blu-ray releases in nordic countries and I of course bought them. Well... Now they're releasing them all over again but this time with goodies. Clever. "Master Movie Classics Limited Edition" series includes a poster and some postcards from the film and as a collector I naturally have to have them. So here we are, once again buying the same films all over again. It was announced yesterday that @nightvisionsfestival - the biggest horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action genre film festival in the nordic countries has been cancelled due to the illegal and unfair restrictions againts events and culture by @aluehallintovirasto here in Helsinki. Before the cancellation the festival had been postponed for 7 times already. As a event/filmfestival organizer and producer this makes me mad, sad, disappointed and sympathetic towards the Night Visions team. The situation has been unbearable for over a year now and our right to do our jobs and enjoy culture has been taken by our government. Night Visions has re-released these two excellent horror classics on blu-ray with loads of extra content to be enjoyed. I truly recommend grapping these gems before they're sold out again! Now that we're all forced to stay in our homes and everything is delayed we have more than enough time to catch up with all of the movie and TV releases from the past years. Or just rewatch something before the newest addition comes to the theaters. Saw franchise is getting yet another sequel in the future (at this point I think no one knows when exactly it's gonna happen cos it already got postponed cause of this f*****g corona virus) called Spiral: From The Book of Saw. As a small country, Finland is not a huge market for blu-ray films. As you can see there is not that many older Finnish films released as high definition - only 23 to be exact (and most of them are Aki Kaurismäki films). That's really sad cos actually all of the old Finnish classics have been transferred to HD from the original film negative. Elonet has released them on their website and you can watch them for free which is incredible and nice but I still would love to buy them as blu-ray. The best store in Finland is closing its doors in less than two weeks for the rest of the year because of renovations. @pienileffakauppa has been my go to place when I wanted to buy blu-rays and DVD's. Especially the sold out ones. They have the best selection and I always find something to buy.
