Blurred Moon is a duo made up of Jim Wallis and Ollie Murray bringing you an introspective tune titled Far that is rich in emotional intensity. Check the track out above. We hope to hear more from these guys soon!
Today my mood was brightened by an unexpected newsletter. As soon as I read Blurred Moon is a new project by Jim Wallis (who used to be the drummer in My Sad Captains and has previously released some very fine songs recording as Looking Glass) and his friend Ollie Murray, I felt the familiar kind of excitement that only a few truly special bands can give you. Their first song premiered this week on Clash, where people clearly feel the same about My Sad Captains: "For those lucky enough to catch them, My Sad Captains are something a little special. The songwriting has an emotive edge - often nakedly so - but comes wrapped in dream-like tapestries of sound, that casually swept you up in their fervour." 'Far' isn't too different from what I love in My Sad Captains. As the song slowly builds, it evokes a distinct sense of nostalgia and melancholy delivered in a quiet, melodious style that comes across understated and sincere. In fact it reminds me quite a bit of one of my favourite MSC songs, 'Resolutions'. Fortunately it looks like we are going to hear more from them soon; also tour dates will be announced next month! Find links to stream, download and your preferred social media on their website.

Aside from having a picturesque name, new duo Blurred Moon are also sweetly heart rending on their debut, Far. The two piece, made up of Jim Wallis of My Sad Captains and Ollie Murray, offer up a slow building indie rock song exuding much pensive melancholy. Far is a taster from their upcoming EP, to be released later this year. Blurred Moon’s introspective rock is gently atmospheric and deeply emotive, bringing together Elliot Smith, Frightened Rabbit, Sufjan Stevens, and Twilight Sad. Wallis reports that Far was written as he was coming to the end of his twenties. Generally speaking, Far is about coming to terms with the idea of being an adult. It certainly beautifully nostalgic, as most coming of age tales tend to be.
