The early afternoon sun was being particularly aggressive, and Imogen found herself squinting at the attack. Still, though, her gaze didn’t leave the weather worn missing poster. The print was backwards, as the paper was facing the street, but Imogen knew what it said by now. She studied the girl - Alina’s - picture, fingers drumming the table beside her untouched coffee, and frowned. Alina’s faded smile stared back.
For as long as she had been alive, Imogen had taken things personally. She wasn’t a fan of the word sensitive, that made her seem weak, but the girl had a lot of feelings behind those poorly built walls. So, when the sweet young girl that had made her coffee every day for the past four months disappeared, it really got to Imogen. The world was sick and evil, and young girls like Alina rarely came back after weeks of being missing. She winced, trying to push that sort of thought away.
With a subtle shake of her head, the college student looked to her partner in coffee. She opened her mouth to say something along the lines of “Sorry for being so wack, V,” but was cut off by the excited voice of the store owner.
“They found Alina?”
Imogen whirled around in her seat then, catching sight of the older woman clutching a phone to her ear. She watched a variety of emotions take over her face, from relief to concern to confusion. The landline hadn’t even been placed back on the hook by the time Imogen had scurried up to the counter, a million questions on her tongue.
“They found her? Where? When? Is she alive?” The words were spoken so quickly there weren’t any spaces between them, but the gist of it was understood.
“I don’t know much yet, but she’s in the hospital. She’s alive, I know that... I can give you a room number, if you want to vi-”
Imogen shoved a pen and an unused napkin in the other woman’s face, lips set thin and brow furrowed in determination. With the girl’s location obtained, Imogen rushed back to her table. She leaned forward, palms flat on the smooth wooden surface, and spoke fast.
“She’s alive,” Imogen informed V, as if the coffee shop wasn’t just a tiny room and he hadn't heard the whole exchange. “I’m gonna go see her. You’re coming, right? I know you’re probably busy but you should at least come for a second. I think she would like to see you, you know?”
Her eyes flicked back up to the missing poster, but this time Alina’s smile didn’t fill her with complete dread.
“... can i help you?”
saeran blurted out without warning, staring at the other rather incredulously.

“ THERE’S NO need for you to be so stubborn about it, hyung. ” his voice was calm and relaxed, something that he’s sure v hasn’t witnessed in a long time concerning their conversations. with a small click of his tongue, he pointed towards the bandages. “ IF YOU’RE going to be stubborn with me about the surgery, at least help me with the bandages. ” he huffed out. he blinked up at the photographer with one ( functioning ) eye, “ YOU CAN still see some, can’t you? ”

Spending time with V seemed like such a rare luxury these days. It felt as though he had barely seen him recently, though considering what had happened with Rika, perhaps that was understandable. But V was the only one nearby that knew the truth about who he was and on some level that made him have this small desire to speak with him more often, to see him, make sure he was okay. What would happen if he lost V as well as Rika? Would he be strong enough to keep on going by himself? He wouldn’t be where he was now without his help. Under the dark sky, a comfortable silence had fallen over them. It felt as though they both just needed this excuse for some fresh air and to silently make sure that one another was alright. Seven had been attempting to think on a way to bring up the topic of his eyesight when he’d heard a noise that had caused him to pause, years of training having his senses on high alert even in such a peaceful place such as this. “It sounded like rustling...and some twigs breaking perhaps?”, he frowned as he glanced around. Were they being watched? “Maybe we should take a seat? Maybe I’m just imagining things”, he laughed weakly, scratching the back of his head before motioning to the bench before them, “There’s something I wish to ask you anyways”
