Nott the Brave of the Mighty Nein for @eisschirmchen 

This doll has a lot of firsts. - first time felting details. Her eyes are felted, mouth, and the details on her coat. - first time making a ball-jointed head and neck, which allows the head full 360 movement. - first time using penny weights in the feet to help with balance for standing. - first time using 100% cotton yarn for a doll.

I can genuinely say I am really happy with how she’s turned out. I really love how the ball-jointed head and body allows for more character. And, considering it’s my first time felting ever, I’m pretty happy with how its turned out. It allows me to apply more detail than ever, and it looks really good. So much better than the safety eyes.

I’m really looking forward to her going to her new home and being well loved. <3

In June of this year, I decided to undertake my biggest and most challenging crochet project to date. It was the Cosmic Crochet-A-Long by Helen Shrimpton. 96 rounds, well over 1000 metres of yarn, some complicated stitches and some created specifically for this blanket. 

I finished it in September, and one of the ladies I work with took photos to show on our shop website as all the yarn came from my work. She uploaded the photos today.

And I’m uploading them here because I’m genuinely very proud of myself for completing this blanket. It was a labour of love and really challenged me. It also may have messed up my shoulder for the rest of my life, but I have a pretty blanket out of it. :D

Been stuck down with a really bad tummy bug since late Thursday night. So, its left me with time on my hands. I have so much cotton yarn, I decided to have another go at a 12-pointed star blanket. The last one (also the first one) I made I started shortly after I learned to crochet and while it’s not awful, it doesn’t sit flat and the colours are pretty bad. Figured out that the reason this wasn’t sitting flat to begin with was because I’m used to doing very tight stitches (you need tight stitches for amigurumi), so I’ve made a conscious effort to do my stitches looser in this and it seems to be working.

So far, so good. 

Pictures are a bit crappy but, eh. 

Gonna go and try and get a few hours kip, then I’ll get back onto prompts.

Not the best picture, cause flash. But you get the idea. Each round is a full 50gm ball of cotton yarn. Cotton yarn is surprisingly heavy. I anticipate the last rounds will be at least two, if not, three. Oh well. I guess it's good I enjoy crochet.

I managed to fix my mistake.notthatanyoneisreallyinterested

The gnome sorcerer character, Zook Zanna Folkore Sparklegem, who belongs to one of my players. I wrestled with flu and aching joints to get this done for his birthday next Wednesday. (Crocheting with flu, super fun).

His hair is meant to be iridescent, but iridescent yarn does not exist. So he has white hair with iridescent fibres woven throughout. Considering I had absolutely no visual idea what he looked like, or wears, this is the best I can do.It’s hard to see in the photos, but the shirt, trousers, coat and lining all have twinkling fibres woven throughout. He literally sparkles. 

I think the coat is my favourite part.

Finally finished this virus shawl that I started back in November. The bulk of the shawl has been done for weeks - but I was overthinking the border I wanted. Ended up with a shell border in the hot pink colour.

First project finished of 2018 - onto the next ones.

Been trying to use up some of my fine cotton yarn. Stuff that’s too fine for commissions. Found a pattern for “mini mandala” online and these are the fruits of my labour so far. They’re coated in watered down pva glue to keep them stiff. I think can be used as coasters, probably.

Making some slow, slow, sloooow progress on this virus shawl. I love how it’s coming out though. It’s a nice project to just pick up and do when I have time.
