He stood in the empty Beta Kindergarten; he should be at Little Homeschool right now but he had to see that Jasper’s exit hole. Besides, wasn’t one of the lessons being taught there about independence and making your own decisions?

He recognized the exit hole immediately; it stood out in stark contrast to the sloppy work around it. Had the same Charoite worked on the whole facility? Or had there been a genius working on this one Quartz?

With a bit of effort, he climbed up and into the hole, walking into its depths. It really was glass all the way to the back. Amazing.

Having lived exclusively in Pink Diamon’s garden before going to earth, not only was Spinel new to that planet, but she was also fairly new to Homeworld.

As such, fusions were a concept she didn’t know anything about yet. There was Alexandrite, sure. But for now, if the pink gem had come across a fusion out of the blue, there was no way she’d be able to tell what it was.

That was exactly the case here.

Perfection, the ultimate goal that shall forever be unreachable. It would be this sole word that would cause many to become obsessed with becoming perfect, even to the point of causing harm to others. White Diamond’s court had become estranged from others in the empire, and in the end to themselves as a result. Harming others in their court would be common which would result in those having a flaw to be...removed.

Such removals happened to be in progress, with one of the many gems used for keeping the hands of higher ranking gems clean were now hunted. Escaping homeworld was impossible, as the surface and levels close to it were kept under heavy watch. The only way for escape would be to go lower and even that had risks. The gem trying to escape was a Peridot, one of the older aged ones as several quartz gems gave pursuit...or they would have if not for the limb enhancers being busted.

All that were left was five quartz gems, a wounded Peridot facing a shattering...and anything that would lurk in the the bowels of homeworld that could enjoy new victims.

“P-Permission to speak, My Prehnite?” Green Pearl asked shyly as Prehnite sighed and stopped walking turning towards the very nervous pearl. Prehnite nodded impatiently as Green Pearl quickly spoke up. “ Where are we going?” she asked softly and Prehnite’s frown turned to a large grin. Green Pearl squeaked as she was pulled closer.

“Why my little pearlie pie, you’re going to meet your new owner. You know how I looove to see how well you hold up~.” Prehnite cooed and Green pearl shivered looking over to Red Pearl for any type of response. “I don’t know why you still think she’s gonna answer you. You know that will never happen again.” Prehnite teased and Green Pearl nodded.

The three walked until Prehnite told them to wait outside while she went in.

“Oh hello there~. I’ve heard so much about you! Moonstone is it?” Prehnite said happily. “Well, I’m Doctor Prehnite and, on behalf of the science committee of homeworld, I wanted to give you a present,” she said and turned to drag the two pearls inside. “These two will be your personal servants just to see how you like having a pearl. If you enjoy their company, I’ll get a nice custom pearl made for you. Do whatever you want to them, I don’t care.” Prehnite said and just as quickly as she came in, she left.

   Oh  my--    Can  you  even  call  that  a  Gem ?   She  wondered,  feeling  small  in  the  other’s  presence, both literally and figuratively.  A  drop  of  sweat  starting  to  slide down  her  cheek.   The  longer  she  waited  to  get  out  any  words,  the  more  she  began  to  notice  that  this  wasn’t  just  one  Gem  but  rather  two  Gem’s stuck  together.    A  fusion ?   Between  two  different  kinds  of  Gems ?  Is  that  even  possible ?  It  looks  horrifying !    But  she  digested,  there  is  no  time  to  think  of  that  now.   Instead  Pearl  cracked  a  single,  apprehensive  smile,  she  wouldn’t  want  to  offend  the  stranger.  Whatever  she--   or  they  are.

Something felt... wrong, for lack of a better word. So while Steven slept off their adventures to Homeworld and everything else, Garnet kept an eye on things on the beach. In the dark, she stood and waited. If something was going to go on, then she’d be ready to tackle it.

It was too quiet, she thought. That just ramped up the chances of something bad happening. But what was out there? Garnet couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary, and she didn’t hear anything.
