Bring Me The Horizon: Oli Sykes
Y/N
Tonight was a very important night. Tonight your parents were coming over to meet your boyfriend Oliver, or Oli as he liked to be called. Your parents were a little protective and religious, instilling in you that you needed a nice partner with a good job, and someone willing to wait until marriage to have sex. Let's just say Oli helped you break the no sex rule and you hadn't looked back. However, Oli was doing nothing to help you as you ran around his place trying to clean up because you wanted to make a good first impression. Your parents wanted to meet Oli because they were concerned when you told them you were moving into his place three months into the relationship.
'y/n, calm down, everything will be okay,' Oli jokes, sitting on the sofa watching TV.
You pause your cleaning and stand in front of the TV blocking his view, 'you don't understand Olu, you had a lot more freedom growing up. My parents but a lot of pressure on me to be perfect. SO WHY AREN'T YOU HELPING ME?!' you shout the last part.
Oli turns off the TV and stands up smirking, 'because it's very fascinating watching you navigate through this. You're an adult y/n, what are your parents going to do to us? They can't make you break up with me because you can make your own decisions.'
You chew your lip before looking down at your feet, 'I know I can do what I want Oli. I just don't want to disappoint them.'
Oli sighs and pulls you into a hug resting his chin on top of your head, 'sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like I was taking the piss y/n. You got perfect grades in school, went to university to become a doctor and work at one of the best hospitals helping kids. You're not a disappointment and if they can't see that they raised a perfect child then they are the idiots.'
You snort, 'I'm not exactly perfect.'
He sniggers, 'I'm happy we didn't do the whole wait until marriage because damn y/n you're a quick learner and we have a lot of great sex.'
Behind Oli, someone clears their throat, and all the colour drains from your face recognising your father. Oli mutters 'oh shit' before spinning the two of you around to face not just your parents but also his. You got on great with his family so when Oli suggested they come over you agreed in a heartbeat. Oli's parents knew about your upbringing and even spoke to Oli about respecting boundaries and not putting pressure on you. However, both of your parents, especially your father was angry and red in the face. He grabs your mums hand and the two simply leave.
'We'll try and talk to them,' Oli's mum says, dragging her husband after your fleeing parents.
You bury your face in Oli's chest and start to cry softly while he rubs circles on your back, 'don't cry y/n. They are not worth your tears.'
You sniffle, 'this has shown me how right you've been this whole time Oli. I don't need to keep trying to impress them because they should be impressed with all I've accomplished, and be happy that their child is happy and in love.'
You raise your face and Oli strokes your cheek, 'you truly are a magnificent creature y/n. I love you and will always be proud of you.'
You smile, 'let's just have dinner with your parents, I'd like a drama free night with good company.'
Oli nods and leaves to find his folks. You let out the breath you'd be metaphorically holding. After tonight you didn't want to be tied to your parents anymore, you were going to live for you and no one else, except maybe Oli.

Today topped off a crap week at work. You hadn’t been a teacher very long but thought you were kind and helpful towards the kids and other staff. While most of your students like you, a handful didn’t and had taken to pranking and trying to embarrass you. It also didn’t help that the staff had their cliques and you hadn’t found a group you belonged to yet, so felt outcast and alone.
You throw yourself on the sofa and wrap a blanket around you before you begin crying, feeling all the bottled up emotions finally coming out. You could put on a fake face and smile at work, but once you were home the facade fell.
MATT
‘y/n I’m home,’ I call out, dropping my keys in the dish next to theirs by the front door.
I walk into the living room and my heart breaks. I hated seeing y/n hurt and upset and was a little surprised it took them this long to crack under the pressure. I keep a hold of the bag in my hand and walk into the room.
‘Hey, get up y/n,’ I speak softly, standing in front of the sofa.
y/n looks up at me with red puffy eyes, ‘don’t wanna.’
I sigh and take y/n by surprise by picking them up bridal style, managing to keep the blanket around them, ‘I know what will make you feel better.’
y/n doesn’t protest as I carry them upstairs, into our bedroom, and out on the small balcony. I sit down in one of the two chairs we had out here and y/n curls up on my lap while I point at the clear sky full of stars above us.
‘You know how there are things in space we don’t know about?’
‘Yeah,’ y/n mumbles, now staring at the stars.
‘Well, there is one thing I know. This is how important you are to people on this planet. You touch the lives of everyone in your orbit and deserve to have everyone look at you the same way you look at the stars.’
y/n smiles weakly. They were passionate about stars, space and planets. y/n knew next to nothing about guitars and music when we started dating but I’d taught her, and vice versa they taught me about their passion. Then I remember the bag I was still holding, and pull out a square box, ‘I got you this to cheer you up.’
y/n blushes as they take the box, ‘what did you get me?’
I chuckle as they open the box and gasp in awe, ‘this is the phase of the moon the night we met y/n. I love you.’
y/n leans over and kisses me, ‘thank you, I love it and I love you even more.’
I kiss them back and we continue to stargaze and cuddle in comfortable silence, letting all our worries wash away.

‘Oli, cuddle me. It’s cold,’ you call out from your position on the sofa, wrapped in blankets because it was cold.
‘Very romantic of you y/n, demanding affection,’ Oli teases, from the kitchen doorway.
You roll your eyes, ‘I don’t give a shit about romance Sykes, and I’m cold. If you’re going to make fun of me, make me a hot chocolate while you’re at it.’
Oli opens his mouth, then closes it as he had no comeback. He loved your blunt honesty; he wouldn’t have you any other way. Next thing you know, he disappears back into the kitchen, and you go back to scrolling through the tv channels trying to find something to watch.
England was known to be wet and windy, but at least a couple times during the year England suffered cold spells and storms that seemed to get longer and longer with each new one. Of course, the heating was on in your house, but you’d always been cold and loved to wrap up in blankets.
‘Here you go love, one hot chocolate with all the toppings,’ Oli states proudly, as a steaming mug is held in front of you.
You were a little shocked Oli had made you one because usually the two of you told the other to sod off when requesting something they could do themselves. Of course, you told each other where to go most romantically, which nine times out of ten ended up with the two of you having sex.
‘Close your mouth y/n, or you’ll catch flies,’ he jokes, ‘room for one more under there?’
Before you can respond Oli places the mug on the coffee table and gets onto the sofa next to you, and manages to worm himself under your blanket layers, wrapping his arms around you, pulling you against his chest.
‘Make yourself comfortable Oli,’ you reply sarcastically.
Oli leans over and kisses your neck, ‘I think I will. Sorry for teasing you earlier.’
You smile, enjoying the attention, ‘I forgive you. Do you have to go to the studio today?’
‘Not anymore, I think I’ll stay here and enjoy this delicious hot chocolate,’ he hums.
You watch Oli pick up the drink you’d thought he’d made for you and take a large sip. You snatch the mug out of his hands and down the warm drink, not wanting your partner to have the last laugh.
Oli throws his head back and laughs loudly, ‘you’re one of a kind y/n, never change.’
You put the empty mug down and grin at Oli. He brings his fingers up to your lips and wipes some whipped cream off your upper lip. This is how you wanted to spend all your cold winter days, with someone who appreciated and loved all your little quirks.
