Maybe it is very evident due to what was shown in the recent chapter but I will still mention it, the fact that Shigaraki has given up on his past / family means that he reached the point of no return and it can be confirmed that he will have no redemption imo.

It can be seen that his family members try to remind him of his humanity, but everything is in vain, Shigaraki has already made his decision.

I do not deny that the circumstances were unfair to Shigaraki and that at some point in his life it was possible that he had another chance or perhaps a new beginning but now things are not so simple, unfortunately.

"Tenko may have been saveable but Tomura is not."

By the way, I want to share a 2018 interview where Horikoshi talks about that topic and I think what he said makes more sense now.

About Shigaraki

Well you know what I’m gonna rant about Shigaraki today and there’s nothing you can do to stop me, so take a sit hons.

You know what the saddest part is? It’s the manipulation.

Up untill he was 5 he was constantly put down and abused by his dad (yes, I believe that locking your 5 year old -and it probably happened when he was younger too- outside of the house, in the garden, alone, and to forbid your whole family to go talk to him or see him, untill he apologises, for talking about heroes, the one thing EVERY fucking child talks about in this world, yes, I think it’s a form of abuse. He didn’t do anything wrong, he just talked and played like every other kid his age did. He probably couldn’t even really comprehend why his dad was so angry at them, he was just a kid, nobody even tried to explain it to him. God we don’t even know for how long he would be left out, but it does seem to be a pretty recurring thing).

And then, then AFO happened. The rest of his life, his developing years, were spent with a complete sociopath, a man who sistematically taught that destruction was the only good response for anger and that that was the only thing he could do, a man who sent him out on the streets with the worst people you could find, when he was still a child and had nothing, didn’t show up to help him when he was attacked, and then taught him that killing them was a good thing, a man who definitely did not care enough about this kid to help him with his ticks and his detructive behaviour towards himself, a man who had THE NERVE to present himself as a saviour to a scared child only to make him become his tool.

A plaything to get back to All Might.

No wonder he came out so fucked up hu?

And now in this sort of half-dead/hallucinatory state that he’s having in this chapter we can see that up to this moment there was (hopefully still is), some resemblance of good. When he speaks to his sister, he’s soft, he doesn’t yell at her, he isn’t angry, he even seems to have forgiven her for what was, in the mind of a 5 year old child, a “betrayal” of sorts.

It’s the same thing when he speaks to his mom, there’s no resentment nor anger, sign that tells us that he still holds them dear to his heart.

It’s another thing with his dad, when he appears, he’s huge and scary and furious, ready to attack him. Meaning that this 20 year old man was still, somewhere in his mind, terrified of his dad. It’s just sad.

But this time he faces him and decays him. Now, if he just now accepted what happened and what he did or if he finally found the courage to face him, I don’t know, I can’t tell.

But now there’s AFO, God I hate this ugly ass man.

You destroyed your family. You were born twisted. You have nobody now. But I’m here. I will help you, because none else will. Who would accept a monster like you? You only have me.

I feel like that’s what AFO really mean. “When you’re a monster, and you are, you don’t really have much of a choice, but I’ll accept you, because I’m good”

The fact that then everybody tries to stop Shigaraki, placing their hands where he used to place them, is also quite interesting, because it makes me think if, maybe, subconsciously he didn’t want to give in to AFO just yet. Like there was still something keeping him away from him, like a reminder that not everything is shit and needs to be destroyed, because his family was nice.

The fact that AFO also says “don’t deny me no more”or something similar (I didn’t go back to check) makes me think that up untill this point a small part of him still didn’t fully commit to the cause.

And that’s just sad.

But maybe I’m reading to much into this, it’s very probable being that it’s 4.22 AM here and this is way too long so... get fucked.

BNHA Chapter 270

... What the actual heck is happening in this latest chapter 1. Shigaraki has All for one now 2. The hero’s are screwed 3. Shiggys family (even Nana) reaching for him made me tear up 4. Deku vs Shigaraki aka One for all vs All for one 5. Where’s my bois Dabi, Hawks and Tokoyami 

 Predictions: Dabi will be revealed to be a Todoroki once Sho is on the front lines Shigaraki will win, causing Deku to go train with All Might maybe in America Deku will win and the villains will either escape, or put in jail This chapter was almost too much but it was so amazing!
