My Grandfather AU should be posted on Ao3 within a week. I'm just going to polish it up and make sure that everything looks good, and then I'll be starting on the second chapter! I'm so excited!
In My Life AU
Ah yes, the story that's title was inspired by my favorite Beatles song, "In My Life." This is a Todoroki centric fic where he can see ghosts. I know, I know. Another absolutely original and totally unheard of concept. Yes. I'm full of those.
This actually stemmed from me taking an interest in how the Todoroki family would be impacted if Endeavor was a good father. How it derailed into giving Shouto a completely different quirk is utterly beyond me.
Essentially, Shouto has the ability to see, sense, speak to, and interact with spirits. His family originally thinks that they are his imaginary friends, but soon discover that it just isn't the case at all.
Shouto acts like a sort of beacon for spirits, they're drawn to him, because to them, he's bright and is their ticket into getting back into the mortal world. Kinda like Carol Anne in 'Poltergeist'; though, he doesn't get pulled into any different worlds. They can possess him for short periods of time if he let's them, which is another reason they try to flock around him. They just want a taste of being human again. Some of them miss being able to eat their favorite foods or just sit down at a park and watch the birds. Others, of course, have more malicious intentions.
One in particular is willing to do anything to achieve life. He feels as if he didn't deserve to die and feels cheated.
He tries to trick Shouto into letting him possess him but when he realizes his ulterior motive, he refuses. The spirit grows angry and attacks Shouto's family in retaliation. The ghost whispers ugly things into the ears of the Todoroki's and they slowly but surely twist into what we know as their canon personalities.
Endeavor hates that he still doesn't have a child strong enough to surpass All Might and he blames his children and his wife as if it's their fault. Upon discussing having a fifth child, Rei snaps and proceeds to attempt to pour boiling water onto Shouto.
The ghost constantly tells him that his family wouldn't be in so much pain if he had just been 'a good boy.'
Endeavor still seethes that he wasn't given the perfect child and despises his children, often taking his hatred on all of them, but Shouto in particular thanks to the influence of the ghost.
He does still want to be a hero; although he feels almost unworthy because he feels that he couldn't even save his family. He meets Izuku, a boy who died in a villain attack. Izuku also wants to be a hero but feels that he's even more useless because he's quirkless and dead. Him and Shouto kinda team up and they both participated in the entrance exam.
Shouto had originally been labeled as quirkless, but he asks Fuyumi to change it to minor telekinesis. She does and he gets into UA. Izuku acts like the telekinetic ability since he's strong for a ghost.
...
That's kinda it. Obviously, there's more to it than that. I used to be really fond of this story, but for some reason, I lost a bit of interest. Writing this down sparked a hit of my passion for it and I'm excited to take another peek at it and revise anything.
