This one is honestly one of my favorites despite how difficult it is to write.
I'm going to just say this right now. I got the inspiration for this story from 'The Mind Electric' by Miracle Musical. I was just minding my own business while listening to music when this song played and inspiration slammed my face into the table repeatedly. My wrist was literally cramping because of how frantic my writing was.
The story primarily revolves around Inko in the beginning. She lives all alone in her apartment and honestly has no idea that she even has a child. It follows her daily routines and how boring and lonely her life is without her son. She knows that there's something not right about her life. She knows that there's something important missing. At first she assumes it's her husband, but she dismissed it. She knows it goes deeper than that. It's like a part of her is missing.
Seeing a child with their mom always made her sad for reasons she was unsure of. She rationalizes that she wants a child so she wouldn't be so alone, but that wasn't it either.
While she's cleaning up her husband's office, she finds a bag with two photos of a boy she's never seen before and a single baby tooth. When she sees the boy, she feels that same twist in her gut and she almost immediately connects the dots. She has a son and he was gone.
She instantly brings in detective Tsukauchi, the Bakugo's, and her husband. They're just as baffled as her.
The detective begins to investigate, but he's not really sure where to start since Izuku went missing years ago. Eventually, he begins to find evidence asides from the photos and the baby teeth of the boy's existence. Along the way, he begins to notice that his evidence is being tampered with and he begins to hide it. The case was already difficult enough.
After nearly two years of on and off investigation, he gets the lead he needed. He manages to connect Inko's experience to nearly a dozen other families. Each of then involves a child who goes missing without the family knowing. Each one of the cases were from before he started working there and every single one had been swept under the rug, which was why he hadn't managed to connect the dots earlier.
The story is so hard to write but I love it so much! I personally like to think I'm a better horror writer than a mystery and suspense one. Regardless, I really hope that this caught your eye and got you interested. I would love to answer any of your questions regarding this or my other AU's! Don't be afraid to ask questions!
