There’s a reason people who volunteer out in the real world of our community are so rarely aphobic. It’s bc the elders in our community (who are in large not active on social media) will explain exactly how that’s not okay if given a spare minute to speak and that comes up. Mocking aphobia is all over tumblr, but luckily aphobia itself is also pretty confined to that. That blew my mind but it is absolutely true. There’s a reason Pride parades have ace flags yet no anti-ace protesters.

Yeah, I have definitely noticed an improvement in antiace shit on here even. But also you know– there was that spurt of mocking pansexuality earlier in the year, there were t/erfs in the London parade, I’ve had friends get t/ruscum harassment for making nb-positive statements, and I see a lot of lesbophobia online, particularly in places where people clearly think lesbians won’t see them/will be too afraid to speak up/assume everyone there agrees with them. And so just like– this problem of people not being able to look beyond their individual experience and acknowledge diversity in our community is so widespread and so fucking nasty.
