why are there only like 10 posts about Bear Otter and the Kid on this site... what are you guys doing... (so I thought to myself, how about we reread it now that Green Creek’s done? I thought to myself, just the first 3 chapters. And now here we are, 7 hours later and Bear is just yelling at Otter over how he bought him a house and this is still the most dramatic book i’ve ever read in my life)
Me: *thinks about listening to Bear, Otter, and the Kid or the Green Creek series again*
Me: "I'm already bedbound for my blood pressure today, better not risk it. 🥲"
i’ve been reading bear, otter, and the kid and i just keep thinking about the kid meeting artemis from the bones beneath my skin.

wow wow wow sometimes romance books really are like:
He shouts “Bear! Bear!” as he runs. People stare at him as he shoves past. He doesn’t care. I’m here, and everything is going to be okay.
This all ends when he catches up with the person. It’s not me. It doesn’t even look like me.
Three weeks later, the same thing happens again.
And again and again and again.
Otter thinks he’s sick. He goes to the doctor. They do many tests. He’s poked and prodded and X-rayed and CAT-scanned and MRI’d and gives blood and urine. Two weeks later he’s told he’s perfectly healthy, at least in body. He tries to believe this, but I am one of the paramedics who rushed past him on his way up to meet with the doctor.
He thinks that maybe this is just an unhealthy obsession. He goes to a therapist. The therapist pokes and prods and asks if he’s ever considered yoga. Or meditation. Or Xanax. Otter is told he needs to relax. He’s told that he’s projecting. He’s told he needs to cut back on the stresses in his life. He’s told to take a long vacation.
He and Jonah go to Florida for a week. I’m checking them into the hotel. I’m the bellboy. I’m the cab driver, the bartender, the waiter, the person on the street who passes by. By the end of the week, it’s the beginning of March, and Otter starts to think about going home.
