In 2008 Erin Caffey was just a 16-year-old girl, that had planned to murder her entire family. The reasoning behind this murder is because her parents didn't approve of her relationship with her then boyfriend 19-year-old Charlie Wilkinson. Charlie and his two friends Charles Waid ,20, and Bobbi Johnson ,18, had agreed to help kill Erin's family. They waited until night came along, while everyone was asleep. Then both Charlie Wilkinson and Charles Waid had snuck into the house armed with a 22-caliber pistol and a samurai sword. They slaughter the family, first the mother, they had nearly decapitated her, then the father, who had been shot multiple times but he had happened to survive ,and lastly the younger brothers; Tyler and Mathew who were just 13-years-old and 8-years-old. They had then set the house on fire. Erin was sentenced to two life terms and the possibility of a parole after at least 40 years in jail, but her father had forgiven her for trying to kill him,for killing his wife and two sons, and for ruining his life.
A false sense of immortality transfers heartbeats to bookshelves if it means someone remembers my name. This is the fountain of youth I will drown in. So anxious to be eternal, I forget to live for now. This is just a stanza of my eulogy -- something for people to hold onto when my bones let go. Poets are nothing but unwritten suicide notes. Lined paper legs waiting for the right moment to kick the chair. Our words take their first breath when we take our last.
