Facetime // Bobbie & Romeo

Romeo got ready to Facetime Bobbie fast, hoping they could just video call and spare having to meet in person. Also, if she was annoying enough he could just hang up on her and blame it on his phone signal or low battery. Honestly, he just wanted to get the little assignment over with. When she said she had on a face mask Romeo pretty much screamed, and in a rush before calling her he ran into Xiomara’s room and went through her things. “What are you doing?” the young girl said with her arms crossed at the door of her bedroom. Romeo looked up from his hilarious crouching position rummaging through her things, “Mind your business and get ready for bed.” he said, playfully pushing her head as he walked by her. The young girl mumbled a, “Weirdo.” under her breath as he walked by. He went into the bathroom and, confused as hell, tried to apply a face mask he found in Xiomara’s room. He went downstairs to his kitchen table and got out his laptop before taking his phone and calling the weird woman in his class, hoping she’d find his bright green face mask amusing. As the phone rang, he grinned, “Sup, vieja?” he greeted her. @bobbiebaumann

After Spanish Class #2 || 9.23.20 || Bobbie & Arnav

The second Spanish class was just as long and confusing as the first one. Arnav felt bad for not having picked up any Spanish though he lived in the Greater New Orleans Region his whole life, almost as bad as he felt for not having chosen French as his humanities requirement which he did speak a little bit of. Damn him for trying to be an overachiever like he was fuckin’ 18 again.

Professor Lebron released them from class five minutes early (how thoughtful, because Arnav was starving and only had 20 minutes to eat before his next class) and Arnav was stuffing his binder and pencil case into his bag when he found the copy of the campus map he had stuffed into his bag on Monday to give to Bob on Tuesday during the group meeting, which he’d forgotten about. 

He glanced up to the right where Bob sat ahead of him, and saw that she was still sitting there, also packing up to leave. Grabbing the map, he slug his backpack over his shoulder as he walked toward her desk.

“Uh... Hey,” he said, holding out the map to her over her desk. “I noticed that you forgot... to take a campus map the other... day. So... here.”

Having landed in New Orleans no more than two hours before finally finding her way to the hotel, Lourdes was a little tired but high off of the excitement of being somewhere new, and the adrenaline of knowing her family was close by. She just wanted to drop her stuff off in the room she booked and explore a little before the high faded, but when there was no receptionist at the hotel check in she was naturally a little irritated. Tapping her fingernails on the check in counter, she tried to peek over to see if someone was in the back. Huffing, she pulled her duffel bag over her shoulder and turned to see a lady walking by. Raising her hand dramatically she called out, “S’cuse me?” she pushed forward a little bit to get the girl’s attention, “You work here or something? Anybody work here?” @bobbiebaumann​

For someone working with tourists all the time, Bobbie Baumann felt green as pea when it came to knowing the world outside Arizona. Her interest came from the one time her family went to Florida and stayed at a nice hotel, she felt like the princess she never really wanted to be, but the marble stairs, gold details and multiple elevators that would fit her family and all her middle school friends at once.

Despite her deep interest in becoming one of the uniformed people who worked behind the scenes at hotels, Bobbie tried a semester at college in her hometown, but her ADHD and personality combined made it very difficult for her younger self to sit still and learn.

She worked her ass off to get a job at a nice hotel in Arizona, but after three years without any promotions, she asked her manager if they knew why newer employees were climbing up the working ladder but she wasn’t. The answer was her lack of degree, they knew she had potential but HR wouldn’t allow them to promote her when she only had her high school diploma. It was bullshit and she said so before quitting her job without thinking and then regretting.

Thankfully she a community college that had the program that she wanted, seeing the opportunity presenting itself she didn’t think twice, grabbing her stuff, saying bye bye to her parents and brother and moving to New Orleans.

Bobbie already found a job at a local hotel, it’s basic work for the Event Manager, nothing that is challenging for her, but she needs the money and it’s always a rush to meet new people. Guests, co-workers or even friends from her classes. She’s still struggling to adapt, often needing help from others to make the subjects attractive to her sparse mind, but she’s determined to graduate, go home and shove it in HR’s face the proof that there’s nothing holding her back anymore.

Assignment #1 - Bobbie’s Family

Romeo Mendoza  Spanish 101  Señora Lebron September 25, 2020 

Bobbie has a small family compared to mine. Her father’s name is Bruce and is Canadian and her mother Maple is American. They’re cute because he’s from Canada and Canada’s symbol is the maple leaf, so he basically married Canada. Talk about patriotism. It’s kind of sweet though, like fate or whatever, I like it. Bobbie is from Tempe, Arizona and not from New Orleans originally. I think she moved here recently. She has a brother named Billie, and together they are Bobbie and Billie, even though it sounds ridiculous. It’s okay though, because her full name is Boberta, so it’s really Billie and Boberta without the rhyme. Bobbie said she’s Bo Baumann and her brother is Be Baumann. I won’t speak more on the matter, we’re both thinking the same thing TA Martínez. Anyway, Bobbie isn’t close with her grandparents, but I think she wants to be. It's none of my business, but I hope she finds her peace with that.

Hope you enjoyed my assignment Señorita Martínez and had a laugh or two. Love to put a smile on that face since you’re always working so hard. I know how they treat TAs. Have a good one! Don't let the college man on top beat you down! Am I gonna get in trouble for this?
