Congo fever has been reported in Kerala. A man who had come from UAE for holidays has been admitted to a private hospital in Thrissur. The report says his condition is stable. His body fluids have been sent for tests. The disease can spread through body fluids.
Congo fever is caused by a tick-borne virus. Human-to-human transmission can occur resulting from close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected persons.
Symptoms of Congo fever are sudden fever with muscle ache, dizziness, neck pain and stiffness, backache, headache, sore eyes and sensitivity to light.
