So excited that my copy of Teaching Body Positive Yoga by @donnanobleyoga arrived! 🌱 I’d already read the digital version preparing for our podcast episode, but I love having a paper copy of my favorites for the shelf 😉 🌿 This book is recommended reading for all yoga teachers. Even though my original training was very thorough there are so many aspects of contemporary best practice yoga teaching that just weren’t part of the landscape then, and I know many new teachers feel the same way! 🌿 We’ve seen a shift towards greater cultural awareness to make yoga more equitable and accessible and this book offers a fantastic introduction, highlighting expert perspectives (from people with lived experience) and pathways towards deepening our knowledge. 🍃 Donna Noble keeps it real and kind as she shares about how size, race, body image and past trauma can impact someone’s experience in class and how we can support individual needs as teachers (there’s a great section in unconscious bias too). 🌼 There’s also very helpful advice on ethical business practices, marketing, using props in class and all the ways we can bring theory and philosophy into real life practical and positive change! 🌸 I love the forward by @jivanaheyman too! 💗 Thank you for this wonderful contribution to yoga learning @donnanobleyoga !! 🌼 If you’d like to listen to a behind the scenes perspective on Donna’s writing process check out our The Flow Artists Podcast episode, either from the link in bio or Spotify and all the usual apps.
