Last Night's FNM
So, I played the Bogbrew Witch+ deck last night at FNM, and came in 9th out of 28 people. Lost out on tiebreakers:(. Here is the list that I played: 3 Bogbrew witch 4 Festering Newt 4 High Priest of Pennance 4 Pack Rat 2 Obzedat, Ghost Council 2 Cartel Aristocrat 4 Gift of immortality 4 Pharika's Cure 4 Orzhov Charm 4 Devour Flesh 2 Bubbling Cauldron 1 Grim Return 4 Godless Shrine 4 Temple of Silence 7 Plains 9 Swamps I played beat R/G Monsters, GW Aggro, and G/W populate (brew), and lost to mono white devotion and Red white devotion. The deck was a lot of fun! Honestly, most of my wins were via Pack Rat, but I did burn someone out with gift of immortality 2x, and I gift of immortality'd my Obzedat, so I could sac him to bubbling cauldron, and he would re-enter to drain them for 2, and I would gain 4 life. Then, I didn't need to blink him, because if they killed him, he just came back and drained them again! If you were to go forward with the deck, I would recommend cutting the cartel aristocrats as they often just became pack rats. I may also change out the devour flesh's for more hard removal, and orzhov charm could probably be moved to 3 as well as pharikas cure moved to 3 and then 1 in the board for some more hard removal. You get beat by your opponents bombs. You are basically playing a very synergistic, very good limited deck (with 4 pack rat), while your opponent is just waiting to drop their bombs. As for the original deck, if you are trying to remain budget, I definitely would spring an extra $20 and pick up a playset of Pack Rat. The card just won the game on its own so many times. Well, I found some time between working and judging the Pre release to get this out, I am excited to hear how Katherine did in her first pre-release, and I am also excited to see some new decks come out of born of the gods! My next project...maze's end... (no seriously). I am putting down UW control except for some upcoming PTQ's, and maybe SCG Atlanta, and am going to work on some new decks. Cards I want to play with: Courser of Kruphix Prophet of Kruphix Ephara, God of the Polis Kiora, the Crashing Wave -David
