bean iron ore colors I have 4 different kinds: 1)ore from my hometown Laucherthal, southwest Germany 2) ore from Otranto (Kremer pigments) 3) ore from the Swabian Alb, southwest Germany (Kremer pigments) 4)ferric bean ore clay Laucherthal I thinkbthe bean ore from Laucherthal contai s high amounts of Manganese oxides, thus the more Umber like color. The swatches were made using water and pigment only. Pigments I collect myself I prefer keeping in a rather coarse state in jars, so later when I make colors from them I can still decide if I want to grind the pigment to a finer state.
