~ A barren woman who stood in fatih and trusted God in all~
The story of Hannah is short but powerful. It is about a woman, Hannah, who was unable to give her husband a child. Her husband had a second wife who had given him children, but above all he still loved Hannah very much. The second wife, Peninnah, made fun of Hannah and attacked her in order to get a response out of her, but Hannah did not give her that priveledge. Instead, she resorted to head over the temple and pray and cry out to God. She went to Him for a solution and at the same time as a friend who could hear her and listen to her without making a mockery out of her.
The beauty in her story is her bold prayer. She not only asked God for a child, but also made a vow to Him. She vowed that her child would be given to Him.
God answered her prayer and gave her a son, Samuel. Who was given to the Lord at an early age.
God answered and Hannah fulfilled her vowed.
What is important to see here is that she not only asked God but she also gave something in return. Many times we simply focus on asking God and forget about giving Him something in return. That something doesn’t have to be material things, and doesn’t need to be huge, it needs to be something that we can truly fullfill and is meaningful in our relationship with God.
Hannah means “grace” And her story teaches us to trust God and put Him first in the midst of our problems and to not only ask and receive but to GIVE.
Her story can be found in 1 Samuel chapters 1-2. Where in chapter 2 your find a beautiful prayer Hannah dedicated to the Lord in her joyfullness and thankfulness.
