Continued — Thread: The Difference Between Love and Hatred @boldxprecision
Jasper didn’t know where the question had come from. She hadn’t really thought it through when she had asked it. Now it was out there though, and Pearl was nervously looking at her as she stammered out her answer.
It had been a few months now since Jasper had been unbubbled and uncorrupted. In those few months, Jasper had a lot of growing to do, between coming to terms with what happened and deciding what to do from here. Eventually, she decided to see what would happen.
Somehow, it led to her loving her planet, loving Earth. Jasper had no idea that was possible, especially after everything that had occurred, but apparently it was. She wanted to protect it since she knew how much everyone on Homeworld wanted to destroy it. She didn’t want to protect it for Pink Diamond though. Jasper wanted to protect it for herself, because it was her home. Hers and all of the other Betas, a few of whom she had learned were alive, trapped away on a base in a discreet corner of Homeworld.
Jasper was going to find them and free them. Soon.
Now she had pretty light pink stars sprinkled across the side of her uniform, marking her change of alliances. A quartz’s loyalty was not unconditional, it had to be won, and Homeworld had surely lost it.
She had made amends with most of her new teammates. Even her and Lapis Lazuli could now talk to each other without a deep hinderance blocking their way.
Pearl though, she was a mystery. Jasper had no idea what Pearl thought of her. And that was how this entire conversation started in the whole place.
“Is it though?” Jasper found herself asking Pearl, letting up from the wall she had been leaning on. Her expression was neutral aside from the brow raising at the other as she continued, “You seem tense around me.”
To be fair, Jasper wasn’t exactly completely comfortable around Pearl either. After all, it had been Pearl all those years ago who...
Don’t think about that.
