A/N: I wrote something for the high school AU because someone requested it and I wanted to get it done!!
Boleyn was popular. It was just a fact, she couldn’t go anywhere without someone from school noticing her. Cleves was a little different. She was a little more popular, especially with some of the girls at school. Even before joining any sports teams, Cleves always drew in a large crowd. People liked Cleves for her personality. Boleyn was popular, because of her titles.
Boleyn knew there were girls that wanted Cleves. Whether it was other girls at the school, or people Cleves knew outside of schools. Cleves just seemed to attract girls no matter where she was. Boleyn did get jealous from time to time, but she never admitted it. To make it all the even worse, Cleves didn’t realize all the girls after her. Like right now.
Cleves was practicing some shooting drills while a group of girls watched from the bleachers. It was clear they weren’t interested in Cleves’ skill and more so her body. Cleves couldn’t see the hungry staring, but Boleyn could. It wasn’t fair, only she was allowed to look at Cleves like that. Then again, it wasn’t good for Boleyn to stare at her girlfriend like that either.
“Hey, babe!” Cleves’ thick accent cut Boleyn out of her train of thought. Cleves grinned excitedly. “We’re still on for our date right?” Cleves was covered in sweat and her hair was a mess.
“You’re not going anywhere with me smelling like that, go take a shower!” Boleyn giggled as she pushed Cleves toward to locker room. She leaned away when Cleves turned around to kiss her. “Nope, I’m not touching you anymore until you shower, ya dork!”
Cleves pouted. “At least come in there with me, I’ve been busy all day and I wanna talk to you.” Cleves was technically right. Despite having most of their classes together, they only really had time to talk between classes and lunch. “Just this one time, for me?”
Boleyn sighed looking away from her girlfriend. “Babe, even if I did want to go in with you, which I don’t it smells like sweat I’m there,” Boleyn looked up to see Cleves pouting even harder “I don’t have a good reason to go in without looking suspicious.” Cleves huffed out and crossed her arms. She looked at Boleyn for a moment, then suddenly her face lit up. “What are you thinking-” Before she could finish Cleves quickly reached up and took off the rubber bands holding up Boleyn’s space buns neatly in place.
Cleves smiled watching the buns quickly unravel and fall down. “Now you do.” Boleyn rolled her eyes as she took the hair ties from Cleves and entered the locker room. “Hey come on, they were frizzy anyway!” Cleves joked as she followed behind Boleyn.
“Well, they weren’t falling apart now were they?” Boleyn chuckled as she made her way toward a sink. She placed her purse on the edge and pulled out a comb and hairbrush. She began smoothing out her stray hairs and parted her hair straight down the middle. Boleyn tied her hair into two ponytails and twisted them around the base and made sure they were even.
“If it matters, I think your hair still looks cute when it’s down!” Cleves’ voice caused Boleyn to jump.“Sorry, but I mean it.”
“Thanks, but you’re still in the dog house for your little stunt.” Boleyn looked Cleves up and down, she’d been mostly clean and smelled way better. The only problem was that Cleves hair was still wet. “Your hair is still very wet, dry it.”
Cleves shrugged, “It’s no big deal, I’ll let it air dry. Now let’s go!” Cleves grabbed Boleyn’s hand and walked out of the locker room. Boleyn had a number of reasons to nag Cleves about needing to dry her hair, but Cleves seemed really excited to have a date today. Boleyn just bit her lip and followed behind Cleves quietly.
Once they left school Boleyn couldn’t help but notice people still staring at Cleves. It didn’t ease any of the growing irritation in Boleyn’s mind. “Are you ok? You seem pretty quiet…” Cleves frowned as she pulled her girlfriend closer. “You’ve been quiet since I started practicing, do you need me to take you home? We can always try again when you feel better.” Boleyn couldn’t help but melt how soft Cleves had gotten.
“Yea, I’m fine it’s just…nothing it’s stupid. Let’s just eat some food.” Boleyn shrugged and continued walking alongside her girlfriend. Boleyn could tell Cleves wasn’t buying her front. “We can talk about after we get food, I’m starving.” Boleyn forced a smiled. It was clear Cleves was beyond worried, but she didn’t say anything. After a few more minutes of quiet walking, the reached the gas station. It was an odd place to have a date, but neither of them really cared. They had fun and that was all that really mattered to the two of them. They entered the gas station and quickly bought their food. A few bags of chips, two drinks, and a couple hotdogs.
They sat down at a table set up outside of the gas station. After a few minutes of quiet eating, Cleves broke the silence. “Come on, what’s bothering you?” Cleves looked intensely as her girlfriend shifted nervously. “I’m not gonna be mad at you, I promise.”
Boleyn bit her lip, she could just come clean and get it over with. Yet she still felt stupid for it. It wasn’t like Cleves was asking for them to look at her that way. “You really don’t notice it,” Cleves tilted her head in confusion. “The staring, like everywhere we go it’s someone. I know it’s not your fault it just makes me so…so..”
“Jealous?”
“No, I don’t get jealous.” Boleyn glared at the girl sitting across from her. “It just makes me uncomfortable..” It just didn’t seem right, to have people looking at Cleves all the time.
“Hey, I don’t care how many people look at me. My eyes are always gonna be on you.” Cleves smirked watching her girlfriend string back into her seat. “It’s just you and me, no one else. I promise.” Boleyn covered her face blushing.
“You’re lucky you’re cute or I would’ve hit you by now.”
