Clutter Clutter

Posters are an integral part of creative events being fundamentally responsible for inciting the ambience, purpose and prospective effects of initiatives, from movies and concerts to exhibitions and dance lessons. They are first point of contact you have with a sensory experience and hence, their design has been increasingly accorded importance.

Akshar Pathak, a NIFT graduate andNew Delhi based Creative Producer, has taken the road less travelled in a design field usually identified by ‘clutter’. From a black and white weighing scale that highlights Deewar’s (1975) famous dialogues – “gaadi, bangla, bank balance” as compared to “maa”, to an iconic poster for popular series Hum Paanch, his minimal Bollywood posters have certainly caught tinsel town by the collar.

In an interview with Emaho Magazine, Akshar Pathak, founder of Minimal Bollywood Posters (aka MBP), talks to Sapna Mathur about his work:

  What has been your inspiration for these spectacular posters?

I saw the work of the famous designer and illustrator Ibraheem Youssef, who is currently based in Boston. In fact, he posted on my page as well, telling me how awesome my artwork is. That was really inspiring.
