This genus is monotypic in its family.
Japanese Waxwing (Bombycilla japonica) After gorging on mistletoe berries and leaving behind its characteristic droppings, it arrived to drink water. Having been interrupted by a Grey Wagtail, it engaged in a brief skirmish before perching on a twig to survey its surroundings. Though a hugely popular and gorgeous bird, I was fortunate to observe its flock behaviour closely with just a few companions.
ヒレンジャク ヤドリギの実をたらふく食べて特徴的な糞を落とし、水を飲みに来たところで横から入ってきたキセキレイとひとしきりバトルした後、小枝の上で辺りを窺う場面。 大人気の華麗な鳥ですが、ごく小人数で群れの行動をじっくり観察できて幸運でした。
