It was nice to be visited by a large flock of Bohemian Waxwings yesterday! They were devouring crabapples and making themselves at home. After hundreds of pictures, I managed to get a few decent ones. I did see one Cedar Waxwing within the group, but failed to get a good picture of it. I can still hear them in the distance today, so they might make another appearance. My camera will be ready! and Happy Easter! :)

Here is a little bird of gratitude adressed to my patrons again.

I've never had the chance to see it for real, but I've always been impressed with the Bohemian Waxwings. Their plumage is a perfect balance of sober gradations and sharp color touches. I've tried to represent the wispy apsect they inspire me, even though the result doesn't quite match what I had in mind.

Je n’ai jamais eu la chance d’en voir en vrai mais j’ai toujours était impressionnée par le Jaseur boréal. Son plumage est un équilibre parfait de dégradés sobres et de pointes de couleur tranchantes. J’ai essayé de retranscrire le côté vaporeux qu’il m’inspire, même si le résultat ne correspond pas vraiment à ce que j’avais en tête.

Bohemian Waxwing 𝘉𝘰𝘮𝘣𝘺𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢 𝘨𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘶𝘴 A flock of about 200 Bohemian Waxwings has been building in Kenai over the past week. They will gather at the top of a tall tree, and small groups will swarm a tree with berries, then take off as a group and alight in the tall tree again. This will happen over and over, until they decide, for unseen reasons, to move on. I've noticed they tend not to denude the trees they're feeding on, though they appear to be wholely capable of doing so. True to their Latin species name, they are a very chatty bird, sounding not unlike starlings, but with fewer distinct vocalizations. I don't know how long they will be here, but hopefully the sun will be out for one of these gatherings. Also, for some reason, though there were hundreds, any time I'd get one in my viewfinder they'd be facing the other way.
