Day 10 - Romanticise - Chela

I have a friend who is adamant that there is no need to order something new at a restaurant if there is a dish that sends your tastebuds into an orgasm-like state of euphoria. However, picture this: You are walking down the street in your hometown on a dry midsummer afternoon when you happen to notice a gargantuan building that you have never seen in your entire life. Suddenly, you subconsciously start walking towards this mysterious edifice and realise that it is an ice cream shop. It is not just any kind of ice cream shop though. It is an ice cream shop that has a million different flavours and you are their very first customer. So you observe the room in awe, your jaw slightly dropped and your eyes as wide as that of a three year old setting foot in Disneyland for the first time, carefully examining each flavour. You hesitate for a second, bite your lip and finally look at the girl behind the counter. She exchanges your glance, you give her a slight smile and gently utter the words "vanilla please."

In case you did not quite grasp what I was trying to imply there, it is simply that sometimes one has to step outside one's comfort zone and innovate. It does not matter how much you like something, the novelty will wear off eventually if you keep everything the same. Hence why I decided to go for a song that is slightly different from the others I have posted thus far.

Today's track is your chance to smugly criticise people who will inevitably jump on the bandwagon in a year's time, as Australian electro sensation Chela has not released her debut album yet but is bound to take the world by storm sooner rather than later. Such is her brilliance that I would be blatantly lying if I said that I did not fancy her a tiny bit.

Having nailed down a contract at Kitsuné Maison, the same label that Two Door Cinema Club were initially signed to until they jumped ship and linked up with Parlophone, Chela has plenty of cause for optimism, a view that is supported by the fact that Romanticise has garnered over half a million plays on Spotify.

Since people's attention spans are shorter than ever, I will leave it right there. Keep an eye out for this girl, she is going places. Watch this space.
