“So we might get called into battle at any time, because those other guys are opening gates here and trying to invade? Okay ... I don’t really get it, but I got it. Thanks, Kiran.” Lloyd offered the summoner a cheerful handshake. “I’ll go meet people around the encampment, all right?”
It was so much to take in all at once — that he’d been called away from Syl — Aselia — to help fight a war for this other place named Askr, because another country kept trying to invade and destroy it. Lloyd had felt a little awkward being called ‘a great hero’ by people who he’d never met and weren’t even from his own world, as far as he could tell, but he reasoned to himself that all these other people in the encampment must be seasoned fighters. He certainly was not the first person summoned here, by any stretch of the imagination.
He passed from tent to tent, saying hello and introducing himself. Most of the others seemed friendly, although no one seemed familiar in the slightest, nor had any of them the faintest inkling about Sylvarant or Tethe’alla, though most were generally willing to swap stories about their own worlds.
There came a crunch in the distance of battle-weary feet. Kiran had said their most recent battle had ended and the squad should be returning soon. Lloyd decided to meet them and see if there was anything he could do to help, and broke into a quick trot to head that direction.
That quick trot turned into a lightning-fast sprint as he registered a familiar brown trenchcoat, the first familiar thing he’d seen since he’d arrived.
“Alvin! ALVIN!” he yelled, skidding to a not-quite-spillover halt on the gravel next to him. “Hey! Kiran didn’t say you were on the squad that went out, or I’d’ve come found you first thing.”
@bonafidebittersweet: Odin voice: "DID SOMEONE SAY JUSTICE?"
“I most certainly did my friend! In any city there will be those tempted by evil, and where such wickedness arises, so too must one willing to fight back. One willing to stand for all that the good citizens deserve! Will you join in the fight for justice with me?”

“Coffee run! Who wants what?”
“Dirty chai; two shots of espresso, spicy, not sweet.”
“Tea in your coffee? You traitor.”

“What, Sword for Brains?”
bonafidebittersweet:
“From what you’re describing, you can barely fit two people on your little contraption. At least airships have legroom.”
“Yeah, but airships aren’t anywhere near as maneuverable. I wouldn’t want to try to take one of those things into a tight space. Plus, they’re not portable. They’re bigger than the tugboat I’ve got in here.” Which he also can’t get out of his wing pack.
@bonafidebittersweet [Continued]:
“I can only tell you what I see,” Richard spoke. He perhaps had little esteem for himself but in his friends he saw the world as it should be, people of strength and hope- that moved ceaselessly towards a brighter future.
“You are someone worthy of faith,” he says. “Certainly you have never misplaced mine. You have never once let me down, have ever been there when I needed you. I cannot speak to your struggles, nor to the weight you carry with you, but you are a trusted friend to me and you ever shall be.”
