Ricky is a woman of few regrets, generally able to convince herself that every decision she has made was justified for one reason or another.

However, she does feel a lot of guilt when it comes to Beth. Having taken her along when she abandoned her husband (Daniel) and earth entirely, Beth would never see her father again.

It was Beth's choice to leave with her mother but a child's reasoning isn't without it's faults. Even giving the girl opportunities to visit her father, Beth would refuse, frightened that Ricky might just leave her behind. It wouldn't be too many years into their space journey that Ricky would discover that Daniel had passed away. She couldn't bring herself to tell her daughter that, and to this day has not brought it up with her.
