Our love for Salt Lake City native Madge and her usually quirky and prickly experimental alt pop is without a doubt, bonedeep. But after she’s released her latest single, I might have to call it “marrow-deep” instead. The Los Angeles based artist, a songwriter and producer who gave us one of the most delightfully peculiar and unique sets of SXSW earlier this year, drenches us with a new dreaminess on her new single Bonedeep. But even though its electronica/pop is incredibly gossamer and dreamy, its restless texture is still very blippy and spacey. And she veers so far into deep entrancing electronica that she conjures chic intoxicating beats reminiscent of Yaeji. Bonedeep is a roaming late-night dreamscape, charged with ghostly longing. The single is the latest in a string of stand-alone releases to be unveiled as Madge approaches the release of a forthcoming EP, expected in early 2020. Madge will be playing an August 30th show with Santigold as part of Salt Lake City’s Twilight Concert Series, and she has upcoming gigs in Los Angeles and NYC this September, too. Perhaps we’ll get to witness her creativity live again if she decides to visit us here in San Francisco sometime, too. One can hope. Bonedeep is currently a free download, here.
