This is a really funny medieval image I recently came into contact with from about 1000 AD.

It was presented with these captions:

Winfrid/Bonifatius tauft einen Friesen,

Winfrid/Bonifatius wird von einem Friesen getötet

Or:

Winfrid/Bonifatius baptizes a Frisian,

Winfrid/Bonifatius is killed by a Frisian

It’s one of the first two panel comics I know of. And it’s hilarious to me.

In 2005/2006 Ethan performed the role of Bonifatius. The song "Ein Leben Lang" was written especially for him.

Ethan returned to the role in 2010.
