Day 30 || GRiZ
bonnaroo countdown.
currently playing jason isbell and the 400 unit.
have you ever heard a song on the radio or at a party or in a store, then one day you stumble upon it? that happened to me today. i've heard "alabama pines" about a million times on lightning 100, but i never took the time to look it up. yet, here we are because of bonnaroo's lovely lineup of smaller acts. his music is kind of like if you missed southern rock with fifties rock with mumford & sons. which is a pretty sick concoction. anyways, he's been wonderful for driving around on this sunny day as i prepare for my first date (!) in a few months. today's good.
for fans of: justin townes earle, jd mcpherson, alabama shakes.
bonnaroo countdown.
currently adventuring into sea wolf.
fun fact: he was on one of the twilight soundtracks. his voice flawlessly sends chills down my spine. honestly, his lyrics are a tad melancholy, but i can't stop listening. they're well-worded and unpredictable unlike so many others. he's definitely appropriate for the rain outside my window this afternoon. i dig him. a lot.

bonnaroo countdown.
currently exploring j.d. mcpherson.
thank god for men like him. i love love love nods to the past especially when they're freaking good nods. buddy boy mixes big band sounds with a gritty voice that i've totally fallen in love with. i'm sure he'll be a breathe of fresh air a midst the rap and folk mix at bonnaroo this summer. i get more excited every day.
for fans of: elvis presley, delta rae, the black keys
bonnaroo countdown.
currently discovering patrick watson.
a lot of the bonnaroo lineup is a mix between hip hop, indie pop/electronica, and mainstream "folk." don't get me wrong, i love plenty of the more popular headliners they'll have, but i'm still looking for raw, pretty music to chill out the hot, summer days i know are ahead of me. luckily, patrick watson will be there. he's everything i love; simple, acoustic-y, and honest. i definitely plan on seeing him. "we carried our love in cups to go."
