last week, i wrote my first headlining article. and i'm damn proud of it.

to catch you all up, i've been writing for the ut newspaper, the daily beacon. in the four months i've been here, i made it to staff writer (meaning i get paid for my articles), and my editors ask me to take harder stories. i guess i might be kind of okay at this.

discovery day. 

currently playing matt costa's self-title album.

this album came out last year, but he's been making music with the likes of jack johnson since 2005. cheery and adorable, i'm literally swooning at how cute he is. he transcends the acoustic melodies of the curious george soundtrack he took part in and incorporates jim james-esque ethereal sounds. guys, summer is almost over. matt costa is the sound of the seasons changing.

today is my second day of 8 a.m. classes. somehow, i managed to put myself in an 8 a.m. every. single. day. which makes me feel like an idiot. it's a little awful, but i downloaded this baby last night to keep me company on my walk to classes this morning. honestly, i am absolutely obsessed with this album. whether anyone compares this one to jack white or mumford & sons, john mayer is without a doubt his own musician. no one else could create an album quite like this.

let's be honest, this mainstream folk band is pretty relatable. i'm stressing hard today. it's my first day of college classes, and i've already made in through math and anthropology. and i luckily have professors that seem pretty cool, but i'm still nervous as all for the first few weeks. yay for mumford motivating me through this morning. i would have died without them.

currently playing the civil wars' self-titled album.

they announced a hiatus. they released a new album. whaaaat? but, despite the confusion, my joy over their new album is insane. it came out tuesday, but i've only had the time to enjoy it today. and it's oddly convenient since today is a perpetual downpour and their melancholy tunes are the ideal soundtrack.

nashville is cool.

i leave for school in less than a week (!), and i decided to try something new today. i redyed my hair burgundy-ish and had an undercut shaved into it. i'm not sure i like the design so much, but i dig the looks i got walking around today. you know it's a little weird if even hipsters in  east nashville stare you down.
