We previously featured Linda Mbuso of Magents, at the YFM studios in Hyde Park for the first edition of SPACES on Style Tribe TV. The focus was to get to know the creative individual; which translated into an intimate glance into his lifestyle, while exposing you to his working space. We further discovered Linda’s interest in the local fashion industry, and decided to know more about this aspect.
Since our last interaction, Style Tribe SA has collaborated with Magents for the 2013 SRT CRD showcase. This year marked their first visit to the local street brand showcase. This was a strategic move by the lifestyle brand, as it occurs at a time where the brand has gotten a make-over. With a variety of trendy and new additions to the original range; a firm introduction of the brand to enthusiastic members of the street style and fashion conscious community is a move in the right direction.
Magents lifestyle apparel expanded in 2005, launching in Europe, Asia, and recently the United States. What is unique about Magents is that it possesses a truly African image. The lifestyle of the brand is easily reflected through the aesthetics of the merchandise and overall packaging. Product graphics consist of historical leaders, symbols of brotherhood and motivational text. Words such as natural, authentic, cultural, may be associated with the current brand image.
Magents is in touch with the conscious consumer; hence their product costs reflect the quality fabric and skills used to produce each garment. The range showcased at SRT CRD included graphic tees, chinos, denim, caps, a large variety of sneakers and an eyewear range specifically created to suit the native frame.
The Style Tribe family is very pleased to work with a local brand that is grounded and moving with purpose. Brand founders DD and Tshepang compliment Magents through their collective charisma and unshakeable brand vision. Style Tribe had exclusive access through the course of SRT CRD as official photographers for Magents. These are some atmospheric and interactive stills we captured.
