Intermission fandom, where you at?
I love Karkats expressions in these, sucks that they got cut out in the final drafts. Although, I do think I prefer the relaxed and more calm vibe that the final panels give off, when paired with the whole conversation they have.
While I do love an animated karkat, the exaggerated expressions wouldn’t really match up with his dialog in my opinion.
Also you may have noticed that the final panel is flipped in the sketch, that would be because they decided to swap the camera angle, I guess.
I thought maybe they just flipped it completely, but no, the room just has doors on both sides. Which is odd for a laundry room that doesn’t lead to a garage, in my experience, but who really expected anything else from Jakes second best ship?
This last bit may just be a me thing, but I love looking at the differences between the sketch artists “homestuck style” and the final panel. Maybe I just have a heavy fanart intake, but that more personalized style really appeals to me. It wouldn’t be homestuck if it didn’t, well, look like homestuck, but the softer angles and slightly less dramatic angle really make the shot look more candid and casual, as opposed to the climactic ending feeling the final panel gives off.
If we aren't reading the bonus updates, we're not missing out on anything important right? Unlike Candy, are they actually inconsequential?
You could argue there’s hints of actual things happening but like, even inconsequential updates need a plot to follow. They’re not something that seems like it’s gonna play into HS^2 stuff, it’s cute to go through and may hint at things to come, but I don’t think there’s going to be anything major cutting into HS^2 later on.
(I still would prefer if they were early access instead of fully restricted though)
Is everyone on Earth C That Extra™ or is it just the extra people who qualify for screen time
ARE THOSE
FUCKIN
PLATFORM CROCKS??????
Obligatory y*ffy meme
The commentaries are being pretty adamant that everyone in the team loves Y*ffy, and that everyone is going to love her eventually, but it also mentioned that she was a “non negotiable plot point” which implies that they definitely tried y’all they tried to negotiate for us please stop blaming them they’re writing Hussies story it’s not their fault
So I know I’m nobody but,,, I haven’t seen any posts about this? And it NEEDS to be said
You’re SUPPOSED to hate the candy timeline. That’s what they WANT, that’s what the GOAL is.
It’s not the team (who are given the plot by Hussie himself, btw) trying to keep things interesting by throwing in plot twist after unrealistic plot twist, it’s a deliberate fucking up of the characters and story we know and love. It’s SUPPOSED to be a raging dumpster fire. But to quote John Mulaneys real estate agent... could be a nursery.
(edit: wow I never elaborated on this bs metaphor. I meant to say that making it a steaming shithole could create an interesting story when candy and meat collide. and I say when bc cmon we all know that’s happening)
I DO think that those who stick around (because I see a lot of people jumping ship, if you’re not getting the bonus updates this must be hells of bullshit. It still kinda is even with the paid content) will like these new characters. I think that’s inevitable when they’re the only GOOD characters in the candy timeline. I think the best possible end for Homestuck^2 has the new characters from Candy and the old characters from Meat colliding, and that’s our cast.
Do I know for sure this will happen? Fuck no. I have no idea if this will actually turn out to be just a collosal waste of time or not, but hey. Homestuck was a collosal waste of time. That shit took years. I read the whole thing in three weeks in March of 2018. I’m no expert.
I’m interested to see where this goes, and I think you should be too. Mistake or not, I have put my trust in Andrew Hussie. Please don’t fuck it up, man. I just want to like this stupid comic.
